Just rewatched 2x07 not long ago, and something Katherine said made me think.
"The brother who loved me too much & the brother who didn't love me enough."
It's obvious when she said that she referred to Stefan as the
'brother who didn't love her enough', but I just don't think that's true. Just because Damon was practically obsessed with her doesn't mean Stefan didn't love her just as much. Quite the opposite I think. Posted over a year ago

I want to be honest, i`m a little confused. I believe that Stefan really loved Katherine, but what about Katherine? First of all i thought that she LOVED HIM, but than i begin to think that he didn`t actually love him, and now at 2x22 she said she loved both brothers equally. So what do you think after all? Alright, does anyone else keep thinking that Katherine can't die just yet, because her story with Stefan is still unfinished. I mean, what was the point in writing Memory Lane and showing that Katherine really loves Stefan if nothing's gonna happen between them anyway and she's just gonna die? That makes no sense. Guys, DE fan here. For the ones that haven't heard, L.J Smith got fired & cannot write the rest of the TVD books. A Ghostwriter has taken her place & it's said that they fired Smith because she wanted DE endgame while the publishers wanting SE.
