Justin Bieber is planning to speak out against homophobia and bullying after he was confronted at the weekend by a 12-year-old boy who called him a "faggot".
The 16-year-old pop singer was accused of shoving the boy in a laser arcade in Toronto, but after police investigated a complaint from the boy's mother it emerged that he and his friends had cornered the Beeb and repeatedly used homophobic slurs. According to Bieber's rep, when the boy put his arm out, Justin pushed it away.
TMZ reports that the teenager's 'people' were keen to keep the incident under wraps, but Justin is insisting on going public about what happened in an effort to discourage bullying and homophobia among his fans. He's expected to lend his support to an anti-bullying campaign within the next week.
"Bieber is telling friends he had no idea how hurtful these comments could be - but even though he's a straight teenager, he now wants to take a stand against bullying and homophobia," reports TMZ.
