Joseph: King of Dreams Question

How do you feel about Joseph?

I've always loved Joseph for how realistic he's portrayed, he's smart, wants to be good, charming, but also has the flaws of letting his miracle child raising to go to his head and is human enough that his first instinct isn't to forgive his brothers

Oh my gosh, he's great, I love him.

The thing is, even though he's been raised to believe he's destined to rule over his brothers, he never truly seems to think he's better than them. I think it's interesting that the movie often makes it seem like Joseph often views his status as more than a curse/burden than a blessing. What he wants more than anything is to be accepted by his brothers, and the "miracle child" thing (and Joseph being totally clueless about how to deal with it in a way that doesn't make him look like a jerk) keeps pushing them away.

I see, I think I worded it wrong, but youi remember how when his brothers seem to push him he can't help but push back? by pointing out thier own failings (I'm not the one who stayed up all night, the drinking and the women) Because he was raised as a learner he always seems to have a smart comeback, but it's only a gut reaction, your right about how he doesn't like it any better than his brothers and just wants to be accepted by them, but his inability in knowing how to approach this makes him relatable (to me) and makes me like him more

you worded it fine, i think we're more or less on the same page :) i do like that he's flawed and his upbringing gves him this cockiness - it makes him more human and gives him something to work through. and it makes his downfall more painful to warch. but i also really like that they balanced it out with some gentleness and innocence - it would have been so easy to make him an edgy antihero like sinbad or tulio, instead he's a lot more like moses: he's ultimately a good-hearted kid who has a lot of growing up to do.
