A clip of IU from her recent Shanghai concert has gone viral online after the artist was hit in the face by a water bottle thrown by a fan.
The incident occurred on November 8th while in Shanghai where IU was performing a concert.
During one of the breaks, IU began speaking to her audience and asked her fans if they could hand her a water bottle. In one video, one fan from her right attempted to throw IU a water bottle but came up short on the throw which prompted the singer to ask a fan near the front if they could reach it and hand it to her. But just seconds after, another water bottle is seen hitting IU in the face, thrown from her left.
IU, though surprised, simply laughs it off while slightly nursing her cheek, commenting that it was the first time she has ever gotten hit in the face by a bottle.
On November 27th, a netizen on online community board Pann uploaded a .gif version of the incident, which has received many dislikes for the obvious trolling by the original poster.

[+227, -57] Wow I don’t like IU but this gives me chills. It makes it feel like she’s getting hit constantly….who made this . It’s not like she got hit by an anti either, it was an accident.
[+165, -9] 관It wasn’t a staff member who threw the water bottle but a fan. IU asked for water on stage and reached out to ask for a bottle and a fan threw a bottle to her wanting her to take the water but IU did not see it and got hit. It was not on purpose, the fan cried alot and apologized.

It’s now been revealed that the graduation gift she prepared for the fan was worth approximately $15,000 USD.
On this day, she called up the fan onto the stage and congratulated her in person. She even performed a few songs for the students.
But that’s not all. She also gave all the students gifts that included flowers, cosmetics and chocolate.
And according to speculations by a netizen, the flowers are worth $54 USD, the cosmetics $43 USD and the chocolate $1.40 and with 156 students, IU would have spent over $15,000 USD! Even with bulk discount, she would’ve spent well over $10,000 USD.
No one can deny that IU is simply an angel.
