On April 18, a representative of IU agency told OSEN, “IU is planning to reveal a new song through ‘Producer,’ but this song is for her character.
Because she is playing the character of a singer, she has a scene on stage, which is when she will sing her new song.”
The agency rep continued, “This song was made with her character in mind from the beginning. IU is currently giving her best and focusing on filming for the drama.”
“Producer” is a variety drama that tells the story of television producers. It is set with a broadcast station as its main background. IU will be taking on the role of a top star singer within the storyline.
Meanwhile, “Producer” is expected to air on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:15 p.m. (KST), kicking off with its premiere on May 8.

Officials from her agency spoke to OSEN on March 10th, revealing, “She is continuing to work on her music in parallel with the drama. She may make her comeback as a singer after the drama.”
Just recently, IU was confirmed to be joining the drama Producer alongside Kim Soo Hyun, Cha Tae Hyun, and Gong Hyo Jin, where she will take on the role of a popular celebrity.
Cha Tae Hyun will play a PD with experience of 10 years, Kim Soo Hyun as a rookie PD, and Gong Hyo Jin as a music PD. Kim Soo Hyun and IU will meet once again in a drama after the musical drama Dream High.
Producer is set to air in April during the Friday-Saturday at the 11PM KST timeslot.
