It's A Wonderful Life Answers

Before I answer this question, I must confess something: I didn't always love It's a Wonderful Life as I do now. The first time I watched it, I thought it was cute but commonplace, another one of those Scrooge-like tales, and actually opened my mouth to say I liked other Capra movies better. Perhaps I was too young when I first saw this picture, but this year I watched it again, and let me tell you, it was like seeing it for the first time. So today I can say, what I like most about "It's a Wonderful life" is the way it speaks of certain values with honesty and truthfulness. When Capra says money isn't all we need to be happy, I believe him, because in his movie we see simple faces that we can relate to, scenes that are absolutely heartwarming cause there's a sense of truth about them, as if we saw similar things or experienced them to a degree ourselves, but we don't always notice them while they're happening. But when Capra puts them on film we see ourselves and experience that happiness with the characters. The scene where George and his brother are making noise and getting ready to go to a dance, what a lovely scene! So warm, so happy, and yet, so simple! Noise, banter and a quiet conversation at the dinner table. It's my favorite scene on the movie. "It's a Wonderful Life" makes me believe we can live in community and help each other, be less selfish and more happy. This year, when I re-watched this film, and at the end, Harry raises his glass and says "To my big brother George, the richest man in town!" I simply couldn't help myself, I burst into tears, and felt rich myself.
