dooooooodes...what a friggin mess. since i stay totally spoiler and promo free (or maybe this was never hinted at) i did NOT see the end with marshalls dad coming AT ALL!

the most heartbreaking sentence spoken in the recent history of television:

"I am not ready for this"

Okay before that line was said i was tearing up...but that just made me sob!
POOR MARSHMELLOW! I am just glad he has lily and the gang..and a new family member to look forward to (AND YES I KNOW ITS JUST TV :P) but jeeeeeeeeeeeeez my heart aches for a fictional character!

imma start reading twilight if this goes on...*shoots self*

sidenote: dr.stengel? only to funny to germans i guess
and did y'all notice the countdown leading to the revelation? i only noticed it on second viewing.

What did everyone think?
Did you see it coming?

I think it was an awesome episode!!
Finally Barney's doppelganger :D
But on a sidenote i didn't see that end coming i was crying and sobbing, poor Marshall, he was so close to his father but as you said glad he has Lily and the gang to support him :D

The quote: "I'm not ready for this" it was one of the most heartbreaking quotes ever in HIMYM :(

I know! I was already really sad and the second they showed his dad's empty room I started tearing up. That was definitely the saddest scene in HIMYM history.

Also definitely didn't notice the countdown besides the # 9 on the doctor's chart =/

Countdown? I need to see this again!

I cried so much. I don't think I've ever cried at a HIMYM more!

After rewatching it, the ending was even more sad than when I first watched. That's my opinion atleast.
I also thought that Barney's doppelganger was hilarious. At first I thought that he wouldn't have one simply because he's Barney... if that makes sense to anyone. :P

Tell me about it, I didn't even knew there was a new episode!

It was just so unexpected! And yes, it was drama but HIMYM is a show with heart, like everybody says, and we know it can handle the drama stuffs very well.

I think the episode was beyond amazing, the countdown was clever and Jason & Alyson gave us one of their best acting on the show. I really loved the episode and I just simply love this show.

I did notice the countdown. I didn't realize that something was up though. I haven't seen all the numbers.

When I saw the empty room, I knew he'd died, it was obvious. I wasn't caught by surprise because I read just one question (by accident) before I watched the episode 'Who else did cry?'. Maybe that's what spoiled it for me...

Watched it again later, both times Marshall's last line broke my heart.
Despite that I thought this episode gave a real HIMYM feeling again. It was hilarious, it had gross Barney, the 5th doppelgänger finally, the callbacks. I'm curious about the owl attack, Björney and the laser tag competition.

BTW, I agree, the name Dr. Stangel is hilarious.
Aaand I happened to find this: link. First, I thought it was another HIMYM joke like the Lorenzo von Matterhorn website etc., but it turned out he's a true specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Intentional or just coincidence? What do you think?

First of all, germany, its not "Just tv"! So I know what you mean, I feel so freaking bad for Marshall! When I watch shows I LOVE (like Friends, my favorite show aka my life) I get so involved. Its insane, but I just cant help it!

Anyway! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! His dad died :O I was in shock, and I cried so freaking much (but I'm a crybaby anyway though)! But I'm glad nothing's wrong with him or Lily, and we got to see Barney's dobbeltganger, I loved the Robin scenes +++ It was an amazing episode, yet so freaking sad! I really really loved it!

Does anyone else think that Marshall's dad dying will prompt Barney to track down his dad?
over a year ago Jennifer1985 said…
Germs, not a better fan, maybe just too much time. I need to get a life =D

Ana, yeah that's what I thought, too. I'm sure Barney will meet his Dad by the end of the season.

Me too! I hope they bring these things back up. Especially Björney.

Guys, I've been wondering. You all remember 'The Fight', and how Marshall said in like 5 years he was gonna use a laser sword to slice the Thanksgiving turkey, right?
The last scene shows Marshall, Lily, his brothers and sisters in law, but it doesn't show his parents... Some kind of foreshadowing? What do you think?

totally...he is head of the house and has to carve the turkey. *nod*

crying
Omg!! I was completely in tears, so was my family. We picked up the countdown at 46. My heart is here for Marshmallow and I guess Lilly as she was in tears too. The worst part was that Marshall refused to talk or answer his dads phone calls...
