House M.D. Do you think it's odd that they all call each other by their surnames even outside the hospital?

I like that way also. It would be just like a nickname. When your used to talk to someone by one name, your not going to want to call them another name.blah blah blah...I could just go on and on.

when ever they use first names, it sounds as if they are being condescending.
besides, the last name basis of name referal for doctors is like military personel- thats just how they role!

First i thought it was a little strange, but i would rather call them House, Cuddy and Chase instead of Greg, (i have no problem with Lisa, but Cuddy sounds. funnier.) or Robert.

i think that since they have always called eachother by their surnames it would be too wierd if they stopped. also it shows that they arnt too close to each other - lyk they are collegues rather than friends. i tink when chase and cameron got together they called eachother by their first names a couple of times (maybe in the old lady's house but im not sure).

Its kind of weird, but It would be too weird going around being like, "Hey Greg!" "Hey Robert. Hey Allison. Hey Eric!" It'd be too awkward.

I completely agree with iluvjesse. I'd just be weird. Unnatural, almost.

it's just like me and my friends. We either use the designates nicknames }katie- Sparky, Me- Emu (DON'T ASK!!!) just to say 2{
or our middle names. It's hard to say our last names.

It makes sense, although I think I heard Allison call Chase Rob once or twice,

It was in the episode where Cameron is using that annoying, arguement winning book

I think it's wierd how both Cuddy and the actor, both of their first names are Lisa!..... I think

I think it's funny when House calls Wilson Jimmy, but other than that, it feels so weird NOT to call them by their last names.

Yeah, Lisa Edelstein=Lisa Cuddy. I thought that was pretty cool.

And then if you wanna take it a step further (which is probably pushing it), Hugh Laurie's real first name is James, like James Wilson. And Robert Sean Leonard can go with Robert Chase. Haha, I could so do this all day (which might imply that I need a life, but oh well).

Honestly? It took me a long time to realize those were their surnames. After all, with the exception of House, they can all be first names.

I think that at least House and Wilson should use their first names.
Probably Chase and Cameron too.

I think when you get the interview they usually call you by your last name and get use to it. When they see you that name kind of just comes up. So they get use to it around the hospital and it kinda travels. Unless there dating in that case they use there first name.

It's quite the opposite of odd. They spend more time together inside the hospital than they do outside. I'm betting it's almost reflexive.

Besides, most of the scenes are we see on the show are set in the hospital, so we can't really say that they don't call each other by their first names outside the hospital. It's not really the place that matters, but the situation they're in.

In S2E21 Euphoria II, Foreman refers to Cameron by her first name when he asks Cameron to be his medical proxy.
*
In S5E11 Joy To The World, The present that was given to House by Wilson that House re-gifted to himself, the note attached to it read; 'Greg, reminded me of you'.
*
And in S5E13 Big Baby, Both Wilson and Cameron refers to Cuddy as 'Lisa', when talking about her insecurities in adopting Rachel. In the same episode, Foreman calls Thirteen, 'Remy', while asking House's opinion of the drug trial.
*
I'm sure they're more examples, but these are the only ones that came into my mind, and I'm not quite in the mood to go digging for the others.
