At the end of the day, he’d solved the case fairly quickly and was so eager to see ‘his’ woman. The woman? Her name was Dr Lisa Cuddy. Yes, his boss. Yes, someone he teased endlessly. He couldn’t get her out of his head. Everywhere he looked, she was there. Everything seemed to remind him of her. Every time a woman spoke, he heard her voice instead. Heck, it even happened when Wilson spoke to him that day. Of course, Wilson was rather shocked, and perhaps a little disturbed, by the way House was looking at him. But House didn’t make any snide remarks about the confused look on his face. He simply walked out, without a single word.

There he was standing outside Cuddy’s office. Air caught tight in his chest. Heart beating faster than healthy. Blood pressure rapidly increasing. Hands sweaty and clammy. He thought he was having a heart attack. He took a deep breath before turning the handle of the door, and entering her office.

As soon as he walked in she looked up and smiled. She saw he was a little nervous. Gregory House. Nervous. No way she thought. House almost stuttered before he spoke to her.

‘Um, Lisa, about last night. It...’ House began, heartbeat ever increasing.

‘It was a onetime thing. That’s it. It wasn’t meant to happen and the subject will not be brought up again.’ She finished off his sentence, not quite how he was going to finish it off himself.

A onetime thing? House couldn’t believe it. It didn’t just happen. They weren’t caught up in the moment. They weren’t drunk. It was tender, almost sweet, and so unlike House. But he enjoyed it still. He was pondering on this for so long he didn’t realise Cuddy had walked past him and gone home already.

When he did, however, he ran towards the parking lot and onto his beloved bike, and sped towards Cuddy’s house. When he got there he was so much more prepared than before, or so he thought. Adrenalin pumping so fast around his body, he didn’t have time to think before he knew what he was doing.

Before long he was standing outside of Cuddy’s front door and knocking impatiently. Cuddy opened the door, a little confused.

‘House?’

‘Can I come in?’

‘Sure. What is it, House?’

‘I need to tell you something...’
