A knock was made at the exam room door. House put his PSP inside his jacket pocket and move out of the door’s way.

Cuddy slammed open the door, she had a file in her hands. She handed it to House and House glanced up. He had to admit that being on a wheelchair gave him a fantastic view. Cuddy noticed his eyes so she crossed her arms.

House took the file and read:

Abdominal pain, vomit, dehydration.

He recognized the symptoms, he had already treated them.

“Just to prove how magnificent I am, I solved this case 30 minutes ago.” He handed back the file but Cuddy didn’t accept it.

“No, she passed out, 25 minutes ago. So go and do something productive, instead of being locked here, playing in your PSP.” She said walking towards the door, she put her hand on the doorknob and wait for House’s respond.

“I’ll go running, well not literally since somebody left me in a wheelchair and even if I wasn’t I’ll be a cripple because of that same somebody.” Cuddy turned back and gave him a look full of guilt. She stepped out and slammed the door.

House didn’t know why she kept hurting her. He must not care for her but the truth was he did. He just wanted to treat her so bad he will make her forget her feelings for him and she’ll be happy. Or at least he thought that was it. He opened the door and started moving his wheels.

“Nice to see you again House.” The girl spoke as he entered her room.

“I’m afraid I can’t say the same.” He shrugged. He moved his chair closer to her bed. While he checked her vital signs.

“That woman, I liked her.” She said while House placed his stethoscope in her heart, her pulse was still weak but the girl was full of life. Like if she hadn’t blacked out.

“What woman?” He asked glancing at her.

“Cuddy, she’s interesting.” She remembered the short, slim, blue-eyes woman. When the girl had finally opened her eyes Cuddy was there. And they had spoken a little conversation but they had talked. Noticing the raised brow in House’s face she answered.

“She feels so much guilt, it’s really interesting getting to know why.”House raised his brow even higher. What did this girl know?

The girl remembered the pain in Cuddy’s eyes, those eyes which remembered everything. The horrible hospital night she had gone through, House being unconscious, House’s leg wound. Those eyes were full of guilt and the girl hated to admit that. She saw the puzzled expression in House.

“Am I a puzzle?”House jumped at her question. He moved his chair backwards.

“If you were a thing you wouldn’t be sick.”He said to hide his amusement.

“Nice remark but it was slow. Admit it, I do intrigue you, at least that’s what your mind says.” She was revealing her secret but House didn’t get the indirect.

“I didn’t came here to get a free consult you, little psych.” The psych smirked.

“Great nickname. I’m indeed a psych, I can read minds. I can read yours. Are you afraid that you have no secrets to me?” She said this between laughter, House felt something within his spine. It was fear, he wasn’t safe anymore. The girl laughed harder and harder, louder and louder until all the room was filled by it. It was like watching the devil laugh. Then there was no pulse.

The laughter disappeared. And so did House, he went to the nurse’s station to get help.

In another room, the laughter was still awake. But it didn’t come from the psych neither from Cuddy or House. It came from the monitor that read someone vital signs. The laughter didn’t know its life would be short.

For anyone who thinks we are reading too much into a connection between Sherlock Holmes and Gregory House that was never intended, the creator of "House" (David Shore) gave an interview for an article in Zap2It by Kate O'Hare in January 2005 that said:

"...Anytime one says 'puzzle' and 'brilliant deduction' in the same sentence, one can't help but think of the great fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr. Watson. And indeed, Holmes -- and the real-life physician that inspired him, Dr. Joseph Bell -- were very much inspirations for 'House.'"

...Shore also hopes to draw...
