Did House and Wilson become bff's before or after they started working at the same hospital?

I was re-watching Birthmarks, and i sorta got confused when exactly there story about how they met took place..like, was house dating stacy at the time? Im so confused xD

If I remember correctly they met during a medical convention. Wilson started a barfight or something and House bailed him out. I think that was somewhere after collage since Wilson doesn't (at least I think so) know that guy who went to medical school with house (the one who gave a presentation at PPTH). So I guess it's sometime later :)

We don't know wether House was already working there when they met though, but they definitely didn't meet there.
