I've seen a number of great ones. Just be sure you research them first, because there's a lot of really bad prints out there. The first time I tried to watch 'The Golem', I don't think I could make out more than about 5 minutes of the movie. Hardly anything was viewable - seem like the whole thing had been over-exposed or something - running speeds vary on them too.
If the prints are put out by 'Kino' or 'Image' than you can be pretty much assured you've gotten a hold of some of the finest prints available. They also try to adjust the film timing correctly and give it an appropriate sountrack.

Nosferatu was just damn creepy. And I don't know if this qualifies as a bona fide horror flick, but "The Unknown" was fantastic.

It's definately in the horror genre. That's one of the ones that I've wanted to see for quite a while, but hadn't seen it for rent or sale.
I can't watch any kind of videos on the computer, so even if someone posted it, I still couldn't watch it.
I'd check to see if I could buy it somewhere, but I lost my job about 2 months ago, haven't been able to find a new one, and have to worry about such things as rent.

I have some good silent horror films in my collection. Nosferatu, A Symphony of Terror. That Max Schreck made one hell of a creepy vampire, positively scary. I also have The Ghoul with Boris Karloff and Hitchcock's The Lodger.

axemnas -
Maybe that'll change some day. At first, I didn't get into them either. I've also seen one or two that didn't really impress me. I've learned that there's a lot of great ones, and after a while you can see where some other films got their ideas from. There's quite a few to explore, but they're not always easy to get your hands on. Give it another chance in about 5 or 10 years - you never know what you might grow to appreciate ;)

I forgot about possibly pausing. Since the older films ran at a different speed than modern films do, the flicker can have a bit of an eye straining effect. I think I used to have to take little breaks too, but it didn't make the films any less enjoyable.

I was disappointed with Salem's Lot, and actually liked Return to Salem's Lot better. As far as I'm concerned, neither can compare to Noseratu though.

I know there were silent horror films, but I haven't watched any yet. I do want to watch Nosferatu, though.

jokerfan28 - I sure hope you get the opportunity to watch it.
Nosferatu is not only a favorite among vampire films, but one of my favorite silent films as well.
