While I’ve never seen these movies, I have read detailed summaries of all of the movies and even browsed some dialogue from the movies. In all that I have come across, I don’t think Jigsaw ever directly killed someone. As evidence from one conversation he had with Hoffman, he stated that he “never killed anyone,” he “gave people a chance.”

I was just curious to get other people’s opinion on this topic. He may have never directly killed anyone, but he was the one responsible (occasionally) for putting them in their respective traps/tests/games. At least the traps/tests/games he designed and orchestrated had the chance for survival (as opposed to some of the other situations designed by the accomplices).

What do you all think?

P.S. I’m not sure if I should classify this as a spoiler question or not.

I would say he is
i mean like you said though he never killed any of them directly, he was the one to set up and start all those very difficult and deadly "games".
Like most murderers/serial killers he did have a motive:
he wanted them to appreciate their lives, and he also targeted a specific group: people who were on drugs or committed other crimes.
Though he really wanted to help them, he did it in a twisted way
he puts them through torture whether physically or mentally.
He is glad when they survive, but he is also satisfied if they dont since to he's standards "they didnt appreciate life" and thats why they didnt survive.

i dont rly think he did... i mean yeh he was the one hu put the ppl in those situations, he was not the one "pulling the trigger" so he isnt rly a murderer; also serial killers usually go for one type of person which he did however serial killer usually get a sexual (something like that) feeling out of it... jigsaw on the other hand doesnt, he is satisfied when they do complete their task and come out with a new perspective on life but if they did not complete the task then he wudnt get that feeling from it he wud just b "getting rid" of the ppl hu did not appreciate their lives enuff to save themselves. so he is neither.

Thanks becca85!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

its also a little bit like the Charles Manson thing,
though Manson didnt kill them directly he had his "family" to do it for him, yet he is still considered to be a famous serial killer.
Jigsaw had his assistants and his devices to help him.

I'm 100% certain he is, because he may not flat out murder these people, BUT he IS putting them in life-threatening situations that WILL kill them unless they get themselves out. Simple as that.

I probably wouldn't have a problem with watching the Saw and Hostel series, but I can't watch torture on film. Even though I know it's all fake and nobody is really getting hurt, it makes me really uncomfortable and sick to watch it.

And I have tried to watch them. ;P

I love torture, but I'm really a sick person. Yeah, torture is kind of amazing to me!

Oh except Hostel sucks. The Saw series is doing it better!

I agree hostel sucks, although if Jigsaw was caught would he have to suffer life in jail for murder? He didnt really ever physically kill someone..

I would agree that in 1 & 2 he didn't physically kill anyone but in the others some of the traps were impossible to get out of, which is why I don't like them as much.

No. his reasons were good. The test subjects were just to weak to survive. He never actually harmed anyone, exept for cutting that detectives throat, but it was self defense. Amanda is actually much worse, detective Mathews to( would you beat up someone that sickly)His traps were not impossible to get of, the victims were either not quick enough,to stupid to find an alternative escape (be it finding an antidote or breaking the combinathion to a safe)or just inable to work through the pain. His work should obe apreciated. He should be considered a savior, not a murderer.

He is guilty of all the following:

Drugging, assault, premeditated torture and death threats.

All four of his obvious crimes are 100% linked to him being blatantly, albeit indirectly, responsible for many deaths that he, and only he, was responsible for constructing the cause of.
