Heroes Question

Why does Sylar's clothes sometimes change when he shape-shift?

When Sylar shape-shifts in Heroes his clothes do not usually change, but in the episode "I Am Sylar" when he changes from himself to Virginia Gray it shows his clothes change. It also changes his clothes when he turns into Nathan in that episode, but before this his clothes didn't change.

Is it a mistake, a power or something different?

I noticed this, too. When Sylar previously shifted from Claire's mom, the jacket and pants stayed the same. That doesn't even make sense since the people he becomes are all different sizes. But I think the answer is probably just practical. The writers couldn't come up with a way to deal with all the clothing changes and the way they obviously wouldn't fit 6'1" Sylar. So they gave up and made the clothes part of the change. It's not logical, but neither is shapeshifting in mere moments. It's fantasy, not science fiction, after all.

Sylar could be naked and changing the shape of his external form to look like clothes... Far fetched but thinking about it, makes me giggle...
