Harry Potter Question

Do people give Bellatrix too much credit?

Now, I'm not making this question to "hate" on Bellatrix. In fact, she's my favorite villain in the whole series, and she's very intriguing and complex.
That said, I think people give Bellatrix too much credit. I recently talked with someone who said that Bellatrix could fight Hermione, Ginny, Luna, McGonagall, Tonks, Professor Sprout, and Amelia Bones and still either win or at least be equal to all of them together.
First of all, Hermione, Ginny, and Luna could hold her off together equally. Tonks was a highly skilled Auror. McGonagall was almost on the same level as Voldemort and Dumbledore, who both were obviously stronger than Bellatrix. And Madam Bones was said to be an especially gifted witch, who put up a very good fight against Voldemort, and it took McGonagall, Kingsley and Slughorn to be equal to him. So again, McGonagall is stronger than Bellatrix. So including McGonagall, Tonks, Sprout, and Madam Bones in the fight when Hermione, Ginny, and Luna were already equal to Bella (if Hermione was using a proper wand, they would've won) is just ridiculous. Bellatrix does not equal every other powerful woman in the series.

No. If anything I think people underestimate her. Honestly o don't know who you were talking to but I've been in the Bella fandom for at least 5 years now and never have I met someone who all 7 people at once and win. You must have run into someone whose extremely biased. However I have no doubt she could take down Sprout and Bones as well as maybe one of the others at once.

As for her abilities she (and I'm gonna have to peek back on the books for this one) in canon did take on Ginny Luna and Hermione all at once and still had the upper hand or at least was evenly matched. And that was three on one with one of the brightest witches. As for Tonks Bella can definitely take her down; Bella killed her in canon. Highly skilled auror or not Bellatrix beat her.

Voldy and Dumbledore were more powerful than everyone so that's just that. As for McGonagall we already had a lengthy discussion about that which got super heated so I'm not going there again because I hold strong to what I said before; Bellatrix can beat her or at the very least hold even.

On top of this Bella was taught by Voldemort himself, isn't above the unforgivables, can use wandless Magic, can preform occlumacy (sp?), and so on. She has a lot of power on her side I'm pretty sure it was stated that she was also one of Voldy's most powerful allies.

But yeah I agree it's crazy for someone to say she can take on 7+ people all at once. One by one I can see working but not all 7. Again idk who you were talking to lol...was this online?

Anyhow no hate intended here either and I may edit this once I get off of mobile.

When was she shown using wandless magic? I can't remember that.

She killed a fox on her way to Spinners End in HBP.

Honestly I'm gonna have to look back at the book, it's been a while.

You're right in saying that claiming Bellatrix could fight off 7 other witches at once, on her own, is a ridiculous exaggeration. As you pointed out, she was fighting against 3 of the listed 7 at the end of the Battle of Hogwarts. If she could beat the 7 at once, she'd have defeated those 3 quickly.
