First of all, as many others have pointed out, it is HERMIONE, not with a y.
Yes, Hermione DOES have distinct character flaws, such as being a know it all and being narrow minded. This makes her all the BETTER characterwise, actually. She is a better role model BY FAR than Bella. She is independent, feminist, intelligent, she plans ahead, she is brave, loyal, and she is a good friend amongst many other things. She doesn't need a man to constantly be there to look after her. She can look after herself, and Harry and Ron both depend on her just as much as she depends on them. She fights for herself, and she fights for what is right. She doesn't give up easily, even after Ron left her. She puts everything at risk for her friends and doesn't ask for anything in return ever. She is clever and can think quickly on her feet. She works hard for what she wants, she doesn't just get it all handed over to her. She is very strong, and even despite being discriminated against constantly, even after Ron left her, even after all the loss and pain she suffered, she was still able to fight on. She is always there for her friends, and she will even defend the friends who are not one of her main friends. Hermione may be afraid at times, but she does what she knows is right anyway, and THAT is what makes her so brave. She also loves Ron for Ron, it is the personality which counts, not for his prettiness and his ability to live forever.
Bella, on the other hand, is a horrible role model. The first thing I want to mention is that clumsiness is NOT a character flaw. All it does is make her look cute. All she does is whine and complain about how horrible her life is, when really she is just extremely ungrateful. Her parents were divorced, yes, but what else has gone wrong for her? She seems to live an almost charmed life, so she has no right to complain. She is not strong either. She is always crying and whining and curling up into balls of self pity. This leads me to another point: she is extremely self centered. The only people she ever thinks about are herself and Edward. She doesn't give a crap about anybody else. She is very shallow. The things she wants are to live forever and be pretty, and that is the only reason she likes Edward. If he weren't oh so gorgeous, she wouldn't even spare a second glance at him, the arrogant brat. She never thinks deeply about anything, and she is more closed minded than Hermione, which really doesn't help anything. She abuses her friends; she uses them when it benefits her and then dumps them like trash and expects them to remain loyal to her, which is extremely hypocritical. Don't even get me started on bravery. In what way is she brave? All she does is cower from life itself. She is too scared to do ANYTHING. She is abnormally anti-feminist. Her only hobbies (if you can call them that, which shows she has no life) are cooking and cleaning, while she lets the men do the dirty work. She hides behind her strong boyfriend(s) because she is too cowardly to do anything.

Bella, on the other hand, is whiny, completely dependent on her boyfriend, a pushover, a conformist, shallow, disrespectful towards her parents, doesn't care about her education, doesn't know how to use birth control, treats her friends like crap and, oh, did I mention she's whiny? She's undeserving of her rewards and yet Smeyer hands her everything she could ever want on a silver platter. She takes on the role of a 1950's housewife the moment she gets to forks because she's a woman, so she can do anything as long as it's limited to cooking, cleaning, washing and finding a suitable husband to cook, clean and wash for.
Hermione is a strong female character and someone girls can look up to, Bella is a Mary-Sue who doesn't deserve her happy ending.

Bella is an AWFUL role model to young girls. You call being a whiny, annoying, dependent, shallow Mary-Sue a good role model? Hermione is smart, caring, intelligent, clever, sweet and an amazing friend. In New Moon when Edward left Bella, she immediatley cheered up when Jacob was with her. That means that she doesn't care about Edward himself, just the
lust-ified shit about having a guy obsessing over her. Hermione and Ron are a strong couple, they're equal. So, as Ronald Weasley said in the Chamber of Secrets movie, "you seriously need to re-think your priorities." Honestly..
She's strong, independant, actually smart and pretty!
She's also much more selfless than Bella
hermione can cast spells and do much more, she can realy plan and shes smart and she learned how to brew a polyjuice potion at age 12 (younger thn me) Hermione can do mor then just "cast spells"
bella is not a strong role model, can u giv me a good reason how jumpin off a cliff or marryin at age 18 or givin up ur college education for ur boyfriend (i could go on and on but i wanna finish this an its pretty long) and breakin down b/c ur boyfriend dumped u for 4 months is not a sign of a strong womann, a strong woman stys until teh end wether the consequenses are bad or not, an hermione stayd until teh end, an seriousy bein goodlookin is not a sign fo a beter person
and sure hermione is a know it all (a term 4 a smart person) but its better then watever bella is an hermione might be a show off bit its a character flaw, a feature normal people have

Hermione teaches girls that it's okay to be a bit of a nerd, you don't need a male to be happy, and that an education is important.
Bella teaches girls that the man should be in control of your life, independent women are b***hes, and that education isn't a big deal.
