The low rating have nothing to do with a couple and everything to do with the fact that the show just does not have good storylines anymore. All the storylines are repeats, dragging, or pointless.

For me personally the show was only good in seasons 1&2, and the only reason I watched season 3 was because of Jenny. And I personally was about to give up on the show in season 4 but then stuck around when Dair started to happen, and now they're the only reason I'm watching the show. If GG started coming up with the better storylines maybe people would actually watch the show for the show instead of a couple or character.

Nothing really the show is dead , The couples have nothing to do with the ratings . The show sucks . i don't know why i keep watching it

The ONLY good thing right now is Dair. The writers need to work on making the rest of the characters and storylines as great as Dair, and then maybe the ratings would get better.

But seriously, putting CB back together?? LOL that will be the final death of this show.

It's just not GG anymore. Season 5 now is more about the Cece inheritance/Ivy con artist blah blah. Seriously, it's not about the main character anymore

ratings were terrible even when Chair was together, they have no impact on them. The best thing about this show is Dair, everything else needs to be changed. More smart drama, interesting storylines, make characters rellevant.
The show lost it's edge, the only part I watch are Dair videos on youtube.

And better story lines.

Better story lines and more focus on the main characters. The couples have nothing to do with it. That's just wishful thinking from Chair fans..each fandom wants their couple to be the main attraction. It's just not.

The only reason I still watch Gossip Girl is that because I hope Blair and Chuck will get back together.

Storyline is pretty lame, not only in this season (4 and partially 3 too).

Best Season was 1 season, but second season went became more trashy soap opera.
