Girls’ Generation alum Jessica Jung attempted to return to her former group but her friends reportedly turned her down.
A year after Jung’s departure from the popular K Pop group, several speculations emerged on the possible reason behind her sudden exit and her alleged attempt to return to the group.
Twitter user @RealSamchon revealed that Jung initially planned to go on hiatus after Girls’ Generation’s Tokyo Dome tour last year, but she had a change of heart and asked to stay in the group.
However, the members did not want to let her back. In fact, they had already prepared for her farewell concert.
According to Koreaboo, RealSamchon is known to have a great deal of insider information about the popular K Pop group and is also prominent figure in the international SONE community.
Koreaboo reported that Jessica planned to go on a hiatus, but not to leave the group all together.
In September 2014, Jung posted on her Weibo account that she was “devastated” and surprised to found out that she was no longer part of the South Korean girl band.
Kooreanboo translated her post as: “I was excited about our upcoming fan events only to shockingly be informed by my company and 8 others that as of today, I’m no longer a member. I’m devastated – my priority and love is to serve as a member of GG, but for no justifiable reason, I am being forced out.”
However, there has been speculation that Jung’s Weibo account has been hacked and it was possible that she was not the one who posted the message.
Yibada reported that the singer wanted to return to the group, but the members thought that she was not fully committed and had to let her go.
Reports also indicated that Jung’s decision to leave the group ruined their single “Catch Me If You Can” and the members had to record the song again after their dome tour.
Koreaboo noted that “Catch Me If You Can” was supposed to be Jung’s farewell song but the K-pop group eventually picked “Divine” as more suitable.
Girl’s Generation recently renewed their contract with SM Entertainment, who continues to promote the group as an eight-member band, while Jessica remains under the company as a solo artist.
