All I know Chris from is the Thor movies, so I was surprised by how funny he is. He should do more comedies.

Kevin was a great character though. His dancing during the credits had me howling.

I also didn't like the middle-aged woman five seats to my left giggling obnoxiously at his every word.

I like Hemsworth. He's a funny guy, and he was a really good sport about being this super dumb character. Maybe it's because of every interviewer who's ever talked to one of the stars dedicated half the time to how hot Hemsworth is than to, oh I dunno, the four Ghostbusters. Maybe I just wanted more time with the ladies. But I went in not thrilled with Kevin, and I left the same way. The dancing at the end was good, though. Only time I really liked him.

Yikes, I haven't watched any interviews with the cast, so I didn't know that was happening, but I'm really not surprised. Sexist media loves to always ask women about their male co-stars, their character's relationship with the men in the film, or their clothing, rather than about their characters themselves. And even when the women do get asked about their characters, it's still in a very superficial way. Meanwhile the men get all these deep ass psychological/existential questions about their characters. It's something that drives me batty.

As someone who went in with no previous knowledge of this happening during promotion for this movie, I can say that I liked Kevin as a character. But I'm nhf him overshadowing the women.

I think it's cool that you went in with a clean Ghostbusters slate. I've been stalking every piece of GB16 content for a year and a half (link) and ohhhh, the the things I have seen. =P I'd pretty much made up my mind about everything before I'd even bought the ticket. It's great that it appeals to newbies! =D

I get the sexism slanting you against his character, totally, but objectively, even from a feminist standpoint, I thought his character was awesome for a few reasons.

1) He filled the stereotypical dumb hot girl role and turned it on its head.

2) He was objectified in the way the dumb hot girl stereotype would have been in this type of film, and has been in the past. Whereas the female leads (while at times link) were not.

3) "An aquarium is just a submarine for fish."

I particularly loved the part where he had to explain why he no longer wore glasses with lenses in (can't argue with that kind of logic), and when he was showing the group his logo designs. My favourite of his designs being the house with the floating hotdog.
