I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Study: Game of Thrones is in More Demand than Any of Netflix's Original Shows
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Parrot Analytics, a research firm that focuses on the entertainment industry, recently put out a study entitled
have crossed swords before—about a month ago, for example, Netflix claimed that one of its original shows was watched more than
, although it declined to mention which one. Parrot Analytics zoomed in on that issue, and measured how interested people were in watching
compared to how interested they were in watching any of Netflix’s original shows. According to the study, “[d]espite being 3 months away from its next season release,
is still more popular than Netflix’s latest series in the majority of markets around the globe.”
It’s important to note that this study says nothing about how many people are actually
these shows—both HBO and Netflix are cagey about their numbers—but rather how much they talk about wanting to watch them. Parrot Analytics looked at 53 countries and found that
was in higher demand than any of Netflix’s original shows in 39 of them.
currently carries the flag for the most-requested Netflix original, with
There are 14 countries where a Netflix original was in higher demand than
. Here’s look at those numbers, as well as a handy-dandy downloadable PDF of the entire study.
In those places where a Netflix show comes out on top of
As a fan of both HBO’s original content and the recent catalog of original shows that Netflix has put forth, I could see Netflix closing this gap. The streaming giant has new seasons of hit shows like
Sophie Turner, who rose to fame playing Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, is finally breaking out...
HBO Home entertainment has announced the release date of the Game of Thrones Season 5 DVD/BluRay...

Wow! Glad to see that Jessica Jones is so popular. It’s a fantastic show. Absolutely amazing and unlike GOT the violence and sex isn’t incidental to the plot. Like many on here I am a massive fan of Martin’s books. But I have been let down by what HBO has done with the show. I find much of it to be sophomoric and trashy. It’s essentially soft core porn and softcore porn put together by sub literate frat boys.. Hopefully the series will be re-done properly in the inevitable re-make.
HaHaHa!!! I agree with you Gendry, you handsome real King of Westeros! Victoria Cole is a complete idiot!! Jessica Jones is stupid and will never compare to GoT!! Not even close! HBO will rule on!
If you can’t disagree without descending to personal put-downs, best you keep your mind on where that rowboat of yours is headed.
I agree that the show was not handled as best as it could have. But that’s a discussion for another day.
Then don’t watch the show and go post on a Jessica Jones website. Let down by how HBO has taken this show to millions of viewers? Please behead me again…
It’s funny that they compare one tv show with a whole streaming service. Netflix has some amazing series but no-one can deny the game of thrones has wrote it’s on history. Also we will have to wait and see the evolution of jessica jones. We dont know what the future seasons will bring or their quality of even the critical and awards recognition.
How can you a compare GoT (a season/show that’s been available for a while now) with a newly released Jessica Jones? Am I not seeing it right?
Having relocated from the States to New Zealand, I suspect that the major reason that Netflix original content is high, is the novelty factor because Netflix is a new player in the country having been available only since March, 2015, while GoT has been available through a number of existing outlets.
It should also be noted that due to pre-existing agreements with local content providers, Netflix is unable to offer all of the great content available in the States.
So what? That is pointless in comparing the two. So GoT happens for what? 10 episodes? Then what does HBO have besides GoT that I care about? Nothing really. Guess what I’ll be watching? That’s right, Netflix. Daredevil season 2. Jessica Jones season 2. Iron Fist. Luke Cage. The up coming Punisher show. Marco Polo. Narcos. The up coming adaptation of Issac Asimovs Foundation. The up coming cyber-punk sci-fi Altered Carbon. The list is longer than HBO has of shows I’m interested in seeing that’s for sure.
GoT rules but HBO is starting to look like a one trick pony.
Edit for correction: Foundation will be on HBO. Looks like HBO has Something I care about in the future.
Band of Brothers, the Wire, Oz, Deadwood, Ballers, Curb your Enthusiasm, Sex and the City, True Blood, and True Detective are pretty good too. But they are all the same…one trick pony for sure.
Jessica Jones became popular because all the episodes dropped in one batch. Plus, they were good too. GOT S05 was difficult to watch due to several extreme events. The awkwardness of watching remains even with repeat episodes. Netflix don’t have schedules like HBO anyway. If HBO (or those re-broadcasting, like Sky) decide to drop the whole next season….. That’ll be a game-changer, I think. (Not that it’s likely to happen.)
To me the most surprising factoid here is that Spain is more excited about another show than GoT.
