I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Forbes ridicules Telltale's Game of Thrones videogame series
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
a list of the most disappointing videogames of 2015, and as one would imagine, it’s completely wrong. Without getting into every game on this list (because it appears that the person who made it has never played a videogame in his life), please allow me to say that if you put
on your list of disappointing videogames, then it is invalid. It is bad, and you should feel bad.
While I enjoyed the opening segment of TellTale’s episodic Game of Thrones story, I quickly grew tired of the game. It neither looks nor plays as good as some of TellTale’s other interactive movie-games. The choices are often false. Death-and-repeat QTEs are far too common. And the story feels subpar given the source material its spinning off-of. Play Tales from the Borderlands instead.
I instantly take umbrage with the “I quickly grew tired” line. Telltale expertly spaced out the episodes of their game over the length of a year. This way, the long episodes were not mentally taxing, nor were they meant to be tiring. I also question if the author of this atrocious article has ever played any other Telltale game, because their
The author claims the choices are false, which leaves me scratching my head. Every decision in Telltale’s
game had consequences, and those consequences ranged from having a family member killed, to retaining control of your House’s familial seat of power. Does the author think that choosing which brother lives or dies is a false choice?
, and actually read most of its content, but after this travesty, I may choose otherwise. How’s that for a false choice?
Hot off the Season 1 finale of its episodic Game of Thrones series, Telltale Games has announced...
If you’re looking for a new addition to your game room or man cave, then you’re in luck...

Forbes is such a bad place for reviews or just about everything..Loved the the game of thrones series so far.
I won’t defend Forbes, because I rarely visit that site, but Telltale’s GoT game was actually disappointing, because even though the game prides itself with being in the same universe as the TV show and tries to mimmick it (even the intro), they haven’t managed to keep the story interesting or compelling enough, it is so inferior in terms of writing. The Forresters were an exact copy of the Starks, the thing with the North Grove made no sense, the cameos of the TV characters felt like gimmicks and out of place (though they were well voice acted) and by the time I played episode 6, I couldn’t have given less of a damn. I merely finished it, because I bought the season pass and didn’t want my time to be a waste.
Thing is, Telltale has made some great games, Wolf Among Us was fantastic. And of course the 1st season of TWD. And the guy who wrote the piece for Forbes is actually right: Go play Tales from the Borderlands instead. It’s hilarious and doesn’t pretend to be well-written, it actually is.
And if you’re not a huuuuge Star Wars fanboy, who gets off on the mere soundeffects of laser blasters and TIE fighters, Battlefront is not the game for you. Yes, it looks and sounds exactly like Star Wars. But everything beneath the surface in that game, is so extremely subpar.
Arkham Knight was just as disappointing for me,but I was playing on PC. On the other hand, the game deserved a place on that list, for it’s PC version alone.
I’ve played Fallout 4 for like 100h and I’m not even close to being finished, but if I weren’t a Fallout 3 fanboy (and FO4 is just more of FO3), I wouldn’t be enjoying this game. It has so many issues, and can understand why it was a disappointing game for many people. On an objective level, I’m disappointed, too.
The only game I don’t agree with being a disappointment, is Witcher 3. That game was near perfect and easily the best game of the year. That shouldn’t be on the list.
Otherwise, it’s a pretty legit list. And if you srsly like Battlefront, maybe you shouldn’t go around accusing people of never having played a video game in his life :)
“Telltale expertly spaced out the release of the episodes” come on there was no pattern to the releases at all. They just were creating this game as they went along and even after some of the massive waits for the releases they were full of bugs! Also more importantly the choices again had no impact. No matter what choices you make throughout the game at the end you ended up in the same exact area. The only choices that had any weight behind them were the who lives who dies between the brothers, if Mira dies or marries and who was made sentinel. All those hours and those are the only 3 choices that mattered. Then at the end after waiting for an entire year to find out what is the north grove you find out nothing about it at all or why It had significance. Telltale is just clever at writing it in such a way to make you feel like your choices mattered. While I disagree with the mans list overall and I disagree with his reasoning behind why telltale got was disappointing it was disappointing in a lot of ways. That said I’ll buy season 2 because dispite the disappointments I enjoyed playing the game until the last episode.
I’m with the author of this article, but you’re totally on bs when you say that every choice has a consequence. Tell tales biggest downfall is that ultimately, 99 percent of the choices all lead you down the same route. Got was no exception up until the very end of it all. It was a good game, good story, but they seriously drug their feet on that last episode man. Still, it was worth the time, and I enjoyed myself
1) Forbes didn’t say anything. This is a Forbes Contributor. A blogger. Meaningless opinion. 2) How was Arkham Knight not disappointing? It spend half the year unplayable and/or unavailable on PC, which is what the author was clearly talking about.
Without getting into every game on this list (because it appears that the person who made it has never played a videogame in his life), please allow me to say that if you put
on your list of disappointing videogames, then it is invalid.
Sounds more like the author of this article doesn’t play any video games. 8D Not knowing Eric Kain, I’ll let slide, but those three mentioned games may be the prime examples for the most disappointing games of this year. Fallout 4 and Arkham Knight were (and still are) buggy messes and Battlefront has a severe content problem.
Ummmm its extremely easy to get tired of Telltales GoT nothing you do matters. If any game on that list is a disappointment it’s definitely GoT. Have fun playing through GoT more than twice when all you do is build up to a heartaching over zealous defeat.
Telltale’s Game Of Thrones was a disappointed to me as well. I have played their games before in the past and I know the meaningful choices that have impact are usually just an illusion and if you have to choose between two characters it usually means the character you choose will sit in the background and have just a few lines in the future and inevitably die in next few episodes. The only Telltale game that had meaningful choices was second season of Walking Dead and that is only because they probably won’t return the same cast of characters for next installment.
Just take for an example the choice in the last GoT episode – save the brother or get your revenge. I was really disappointed that no matter what you choose in that episode will end with Beshka rescuing Ryan.
And they basically confirmed that you won’t get to play as Mira if you choose “live to kill your husband in a sleep another day” option instead of executioner’s block.
