Which show handled ''death'' better: The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones?

I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Major character deaths on Game of Thrones vs Walking Dead
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
, then you’ve probably watched Sunday night’s episode, “Thank You.” If you haven’t, then this is your warning: spoilers for
Now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about what actually happened in “Thank You,” and how its final moments have been inspiring both fans and industry professionals to draw comparisons to the finale of
In “Thank You,” longtime character Glenn Rhee is possibly killed. Glenn has (had) been a member of
since Season 1, where he was a nerdy pizza delivery boy turned supply runner for a group of survivors following a zombie apocalypse. As the show progressed, Glenn’s character grew more important to the group and became one of the most beloved characters on the show. During “Thank You,” Glenn is knocked off a dumpster and into a group of walkers (zombies) after a survivor named Nicholas kills himself and falls into Glenn.
creator Damon Lindelof mentioned characters like Jon Snow from
as ones who belonged on a list of “Unkillables”—characters that fans thought could never be killed off on account of their plot armor…which is why fans are having such a hard time with Glenn’s possible death.
The reason many fans are so nonplussed by Glenn’s seemingly inescapable death is that it’s not how he dies in the (comic) books. Sound familiar? Many
fans—especially book readers—were upset with the way Jon Snow’s apparent death was handled on the show because of how different it was from the books. However, there was another factor at play: the way the showrunners handled the whole situation.
Season 5 finale aired, articles began to surface declaring that the character was dead. The director of the episode said he was dead. Fellow cast members said he was dead. HBO executives said he was dead. Everyone, from top to bottom, involved with the show echoed the same sentiment: “Jon Snow is dead.” There was no explanation of the scene, there was no possible hope for a resolution to Jon’s story in Season 6, and we all had to wait until pictures began to roll in from filming to see if Kit was actually back…which he is. It was all poorly handled.
, host Chris Hardwick read a message from showrunner Scott Gimple that promised fans that there would be a definite resolution to Glenn’s story, that fans would see Glenn…or parts of Glenn…or some version of Glenn, again. Then, executive producer Greg Nicotero talked to
mentions that people are going to over-analyze the scene, Nicotero had this to say:
People are still debating about Jon Snow! I will look at this very much like dealing with Game of Thrones. It’s such a shocking moment that people will find reasons to either defend what they saw or fight against what exactly they saw. I think it’s always very exciting.
‘s showrunners were able to expertly handle Glenn’s post-death situation because they had the benefit of having watched the
‘ showrunners go through trials following Jon Snow’s death. But as a fan of
, I have to give kudos to Gimple and Nicotero for keeping their fanbase in the loop rather than leaving them twisting in the wind, wondering if a resolution to a beloved character’s story arc would ever be seen.

A couple weeks ago, we asked where in Westeros in Essos that we haven’t been yet would you...
…Arya and the Hound, known conjointly as “Around.” But not really. These two ran...
Have you already read all the books and/or don\'t care about spoilers? You can reveal all the spoilers in the comments with the click of a link below.
Why do you guys write articles about the fucking walking dead? No one gives a hot shit.
It really does not matter if you follow or like TWD or not… This article was a clear example of a Compare
It really does not matter if you follow or like TWD or not… This article was a clear example of a Compare and Contrast Essay.
Razor was showing how a SIMILAR situation on 2 Different Shows, With 2 Different Show Runners and Executives was handled COMPLETELY differently.
And Frankly there is no need to be an ass about TWD. It is a very popular show and I’m sure many WIC readers also watch it. I have never watched Lost or SOA, but I don’t get my ass in a sling when someone compares GoT or brings those shows up in an article.
TOLERANCE… it’s an amazing concept. Truly. Try it sometime!
So you disagree with my opinion and you tell me that I should be more tolerant of other people’s opinions? Awesome.
Well, considering neither of those cast members are dead on either show I don’t think the question is fair :-)
Nick CLEARLY fell perpendicular to Glenny-boy. Your guts are not that close to your face…….not to mention their are photos of Glenn filming scenes that haven’t aired yet. Part of a bug storyline. Just in case you’re looking for Glenn, he is under the dumpster, and he is very hungry!
On one hand, IF that had been Glenn getting ripped apart, he would have had blood coming from his mouth.
So if he is not being torn apart and consumed, What are the odds he can avoid that massive horde of Walkers bearing down on him?
Ironically, I stopped watching Sunday Nights episode because I have had enough of the stupid storylines of TWD so I just found out Glenn was offed. To compare this show to GOT is like comparing checkers to chess. Sorry, but the showrunners of GOT DID NOT handle the Jon Snow death BADLY, idiotic fans are the ones handling it badly.
Yeah, TWD has been frustratingly stupid for awhile now. Comparing GoT and it should warrant an ass beating…of sorts.
Big difference……no Melisandre or Beric or Thoros on any show or in any books but ASOIAF.
I hadn’t watched Walking Dead yet, but thanks for the spoiler.
It literally says at the beginning of the article “If you haven’t, then this is your warning: spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 6 (and Game of Thrones Season 6) follow.”
Yes because putting Glenns picture next to a title like that is a brilliant idea. (facepalm)
Thanks for the Walking Dead picture spoiler before I can even read spoiler warning or even the article heading…dumb asses.
Crybaby crybaby sitting on a fence trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.
‘…“Jon Snow is dead.” There was no explanation of the scene, there was no possible hope for a resolution to Jon’s story in Season 6…’
“no possible hope”? Nonsense. The author of this article has obviously neither been following Game of Thrones, nor done any research. There is very obvious hope in the presence at Castle Black of the priestess of the Lord of Light, who has already been shown to revive the dead. Also, Melisandre, who has just failed with Stannis Baratheon, is in need of a new champion. The set up for Jon Snow’s resurrection could not be more obvious.
The photo of Glen and title of this post was a huge spoiler!! I didnt even have 2 click on the post to have Sundays episode ruined for me! :( Please dont post something like this days after a shows aired as some people may not have seen it yet!
JUST FUCKING WOW!!! Been working non stop so I haven’t had a chance to see this weeks Walking Dead yet, but is so nice to have you fucking cunt idiots spoil it!!
Jesus Christ, for a site that is so spoiler aware one would think you would have the common sense not to post the MOTHERFUCKING PICTURE OF THE CHARACTER THAT DIES!!
What a bunch of fucking clowns running this shit website.
Don’t worry, it’s likely that he survived.
Well I haven’t watched walking dead season 6 yet but the pic with Jon snow and glen makes it clear Glenn dies thanks guys lol
I gotta say, I normally couldn’t care less about spoiler bitching that goes on here; if you go to a site like this and find the spoilers bothersome, I often wonder what those folks are doing here in the first place.
That being said, it is by sheer coincidence that I finished watching TWD before WiC spoiled it for me, and I would have been furious otherwise. It hadn’t even been 24 hours since the show originally aired. That’s some “Dumbledore dies” bullshit if I ever saw it, and I love this website.
Edit: Seriously, I dig most of what Razor writes, and I get what he was going for here, but you have to get rid of that picture. You don’t even have to read, as soon as you see Jon and Glenn side by side, the game is up.
Eh… may need to rethink the pictures. I personally don’t have a problem with it, but it does kinda defeat the following first paragraph’s disclaimer. ;-; That aside…
THANK YOU! Finally, someone said it. I’m extremely frustrated at how GoT’s cast/creators have handled the Jon Snow situation. TWD must’ve taken notes on ‘how-not-to-be-a-douche-to-your-fans’. I loved how they handled things. They’re not trying to be clever using lawyer lingo talk. They’re not having every actor insist a character is dead-dead-dead. They’re not ridiculing fans for their theories/debates. Rather, they acknowledged fans’ reactions and left an open-ended comment on it. They embrace the talk/speculations/debate among fans as opposed to trying to squash it. THIS is how you handle a plot game-changer.
Isn’t it annoying when you catch someone in a lie, only for that person to KEEP lying because they think they’re too clever and smart for you? Yeah, that shit is annoying. That’s exactly how I feel with GoT’s cast/crew/creators. I hope GoT is taking notes from TWD’s PR now.
Now if only TWDs show runners could take lessons on how to write a compelling and meaningful story they would be all set! As it happens I’ve seen all the scripts for the next three seasons of TWD.
Kill, kill, kill. Ooh, nasty humans. Kill, kill, kill. Rick, look moody. Maggie, be likable. Kill, kill, kill. Ooh nasty humans, ad infinitum.
TV has always been much better when it deals with ‘how’ and not ‘why’. We all K of why Jon Snow died and why he will probably come back but what we don’t know is how. We can theorise about Melisandre , or working or whatever, but we likely won’t know how Karol April… Then it’s down to the show runners to make it satisfying.
Thankfully it’s the one spoiler which has been protected from hapless saps who might leak info from set.
Why put huge spoilers in the hero image, removing any choice for the reader to avoid.
who gives a fuck ? and i know its a slow period regarding news about GOT, but stop making these kind of retarded articles
For me, The Walking Dead finished when they arrived at Alexandria; Rick heard the sound of children playing and the sun shone on his face. No need to go any further than that cos, if all they have is survival, they can pretty much stop at any point.
Unlike Game of Thrones, where there is an ultimate threat that needs to be, and potentially can be stopped, which would provide a satisfactory conclusion, as far as dramas go.

Athelstan on Study medieval history by way of Game of Thrones in new university course
Euron Gayjoy on Dornish scenes were definitely filmed at the Alcazaba of Almería
