I remember visiting this website once...
It was called The Dead Casting Rumor That Will Not Die
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
It feels like clockwork at this point. Once a month, someone, somewhere, decides, yet again, to dredge up a certain debunked rumor about a certain character whom everyone is the production insists is not happening. And yet, the more they insist, the more a certain segment of fans believe.
need to believe before, and how it springs from the need for the things we read in
to have mattered. But no matter how much the producers are tired of the subject, it still keeps coming up. And then, almost like it were trying to troll us, we get a screenshot from Dish network describing next week’s episode, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” and a cast list that begins thusly:
Oh dear. That is….a misprint? A typo? Sitting next to a picture from Season 1, it could easily be a mistake, an import from an earlier season.
Or it could be that rumors about Michelle Fairley filming a “secret scene” in Ireland are in fact true. It could mean that those images of a Catelyn Stark head tweeted at us last fall are correct. It could mean that the IMDb casting list (which, we should all note, disappeared about a week after the hysteria it caused) wasn’t kidding. Lena Headey might have meant something with this picture. It could mean that Lady Stoneheart is coming.
Or is she? There’s another explanation, you know. One that might explain why Michelle Fairley filmed a secret scene this season. I’m talking about Fairley appearing as Lady Catelyn Stark. Sansa is in Winterfell, after all. She’s in a stressful situation. She could dream of her mother. She could have a flashback to her childhood. She could stand in a doorway that once led to Bran’s room, and see her mother sitting by the fire, sewing. She could herself be sewing a gown, look up, and see her mother’s face smiling down, remembering her in the way Myranda suggested remembering her.
Or Brienne could step outside the Inn next week, and have a random run-in with Stoneheart. One of these is plausible and makes sense given the way the season is going—the other would be massively left field.
What I’m saying is there are other explanations. And right now, with the way the story is going, and with Brienne needing to rescue Sansa when she lights that candle in the highest window of the broken tower in a few week’s time, we won’t have time for zombie revenge. It would be highly inconvenient for Lady Stoneheart to punish Brienne for her failings right now, especially since it would put her daughter’s safety in jeopardy.

Back during the World Premiere photos of the red carpet showed Mark Addy (King Robert), Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar), Eugene Simon (Lancel Lannister), and Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion).
Mark Addy aside, both Tom Wlaschiha and Eugene Simon were speculated to being brought back due to their sudden reappearance on the GoT Premiere red carpet. Does that mean Richard Dormer will be making his reappearance? Why would he show up since the last interview he made stated that he has no idea if they’d bring him back? Is he doing this just to entice the creators to change their minds?
If he is making a comeback, this might lead to a LSH-esque character being resurrected.
I’ll believe it the moment I see the hood dropping. Until then, she’s out…we’re way past the need for her and Brienne has other things to do.
About as likely as Mel Gibson turning up in Fury Road
There was a casting call for a foul mouthed racist…
Wasn’t it ep6 last year we saw ‘the Night King’? Lady SH would be a suitable supernatural cliffhanger for a mid season episode this season to mirror last season…
For what it’s worth, Michelle Fairley’s new show, Resurrection, has just been cancelled.
But “You might also like ‘Fifty Shades of Grey\'”
Stop reporting on them, like everyone else has. It’s stupid.
I’m thinking they’ll kill Sansa and then let Melisandre revive her. Or Beric, for some reason. And in the books maybe she’ll die as well, but only there LS will revive her?
“I’m thinking they’ll kill Sansa and then let Melisandre revive her.”
Yup. Melisandre is on her way to Winterfell, and another notch in Brienne’s list of people who she’s sworn to protect and failed.
Listen, I have wanted LSH to appear on GoT since before Cat was killed, that’s how much I dig her character (although minor at best), in the books. So of course any time some cable/satellite provider makes a mistake and lets slip a casting like Michelle Fairley, book fans will rally and get super excited…well cautiously excited.
Dare I mention the HBO slip-up at revealing the name of the Other’s leader, last season? Night’s King ring any bells? This stuff happens.
Will LSH be introduced to us next episode? Probably not, but it would be freaking awesome, and her story-arc could be streamlined (much like the entire season has), from the Riverlands, to the North. Maybe the BwB is in the North hunting Boltons/Freys, and they are headed to Winterfell because they know Roose holds it.
Is it necessary to have LSH in GoT? Nope, never was. Her plot devices can and have been given to other characters (Sansa, LF), and without any major need for D&D to drop some good ole fashioned shock and awe on us, then the likely-hood that this is nothing more than some intern’s typo, is slim to none, and slim just got her throat cut.
it could be a flashback , I’m not going to get hyped for LSH again
Another BS story from the Internet. D&D never planned to bring her back.
Dish also had her listed as being in the season premier (it may have been Comcast…), so someone at Dish has neglected to update their GOT cast list.
Hope is the last thing is lost!!! I’m a LS cheerleader ***** ⌒.⌒
I’ve heard LS is coming back to do some nude scenes with Ramsay! Crazy stuff D&D
I sure hope they don’t introduce this useless character. It was useless in the books and would look even worse on TV.
I won’t get hyped about it, but if they suddenly show in the “previously on” a scene of Beric and all, then the Red Wedding, it could come out of nowhere. I doubt it will. The “previously on” this time around basically predicted the entire episode. Unless you didn’t see Jorah getting greyscale coming, and most around here did.
I almost feel bad for the people who are so upset over Stoneheart’s absence. They’re the kind of people who can’t tell the difference between a meaningful storyline and a fantastic twist. Stoneheart was the gift that stopped giving immediately. Her reveal was the best non-death related surprise in the series but everything after that has been feeble, far more distraction than meaningful plot. It was a fun idea that Martin never paid off. She’s utterly unessesary. But some just can’t get past that initial “OMG” moment, and mistaking think that because they’re feeling shock and surprise that it’s a meaningful narrative branch. It really isn’t.
But………. How do you know if it doesn’t become one (meaningful story line) in the future?
If not in ‘The winds of Winter’ or ‘A dream of spring’ then maybe in the Tv series?
I agree – if it is just ‘shock and awe’ and has no other point – better to do without
How do you even know that without reading the final two books? No one, including D&D, know what will be the remaining storyline. I would put my money on her playing a big part in the last book which was formerly called “A Time for Wolves”.
So u enjoy the MEANINGFUL story line of Greyworm falling in love and completely forgetting everything that was bred into him as an unsullied in a matter of months rather than the return of one of the most beloved characters in the books and show. I would much prefer LHS than watching GW express his undying love for Missande
You won’t be saying that when it turns out Grey Worms mangina is pivotal to the story’s conclusion.
There are a lot of eye rollers and stop its when it comes to these rumours. But there are 3 reasons I think it COULD (not will, could!) Happen.
1) Why have the whole Thoros/Beric resurrection scene if not to credit the potential of resurrection
2) The show is now breaking free of its book shackles and making light work of some pretty plodding arcs in the books. Maybe LSH has just been remoulded to be introduced later?
3) Littlefingers motivation. Outside of power his only other source of strong feeling generates from his love of Cat….is it really LSH pulling Peters strings all along?
The dismissive amongst you will bo doubt belittle and ridicule, but I still think this is a possibility down the line.
Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of our greatest strength, and our greatest weakness.
I read that in Maestor Aemon’s voice for some reason.
Well, I suspect ( hope) we will see a split second of her in EP 10. Just a sliver of her face from underneath a cloak near some familiar Westero terrain and then we will never see or hear from again. But a character here or there will mention some hanging people so we know she is out there cleaning up the town. Appeases the masses allows for use of her plot points (if needed) and doesnt blow the budget on FX
Of course actual screen time for Mi Lady will really require a complete overhaul of my Stoneheart cosplay which would suuuuuck !!
They did mention Catelyn like 6 times in the last episode… either that’s a hint or a confirmation that she’s REALLY DEAD!
I swear the mention of her death has more screentime than Catelyn herself.
It could happen that those “friends in the North” that the old lady told Sansa, and the face of the man in Wintertown that was talking with Brienne,
it could mean that Lady Stoneheart and the Brotherhood are behind all this…
I was thinking much the same. The “you are not alone” line has bothered me since it was uttered. Perhaps D&D have been playing coy with book readers all along, their way of truly shocking the audience, sullied and unsullied alike?
LS was a pointless character in the books anyway IMO. Not fussed if she does or doesn’t appear. I am fed up with Brienne and her incessant ‘duty’. No-one wants her help and she can’t see it.
Lady Stoneheart or not,…. i want Euron and Victorion Greyjoy in the show.
Cannot believe D&D threw away that storyline.
