D.J. ends up winning two free tickets to a Beach Boys concert in a radio contest, but then has to make a decision consisting of who she brings with her (along with her best friend Kimmy Gibbler). She wishes she could take her family with her, but, according to the rules of the contest, she is allowed to bring only one guest.

Naturally, her dad Danny assumes that he will be D.J.’s choice, since he also likes the Beach Boys. But, much to Danny’s dismay, she selects Jesse instead, although she changes her mind later and tells Danny to go with Jesse (although Jesse changes his mind after a talk with Danny, and tells her to go with her father).

Danny says that D.J. is going to the concert. However, D.J. corrects him, saying that she isn’t going, since she feels it isn’t worth hurting someone else’s feelings.

“This concert was supposed to be fun. Now everybody’s either hurt or disappointed. It’s just not worth it. I’m not going.”

After Stephanie and then Joey say they will go, Danny says, “Hold it. D.J. is going.”

However, D.J. corrects him, saying, “I said I’m not going.”

Danny then replies, “Well, if you’re not going, then no one is going.”

In the end, however, everybody is satisfied, thanks to some surprise visitors at the Tanner household.

The recurring role of 14-year-old Kimmy Gibbler graduates to co-star status as actress Andrea Barber is finally billed among the regulars at the beginning of each episode as Full House enters its fifth season. In other major developments, widowed dad Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) falls in love with Vicky Larson (Gail Edwards), who is filling in as substitute host on Danny's TV show "Wake Up San Francisco" while Becky Donaldson (Lori Loughlin), the wife of Danny's brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos), is on maternity leave. As for Becky, she gives birth to twins during a two-part episode, going into labor during the birthday party of Danny's youngest daughter, Michelle (played by twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen). The babies are named Alex and Nicky, but the infants playing the roles are not yet afforded screen credit.

Jesse is shocked and excited when he discovers he has inherited The Smash Club from the late Buzz Markel, according to his will. Jesse and the Rippers played gigs at the Smash Club more than virtually any other band. However, the place has been closed down for the past couple of years. Jesse will become the owner only if he can reopen the club. If he can’t do it, the club will be turned into a parking lot.

After receiving some ideas from Stephanie, D.J., Steve and Kimmy, Jesse decides to reopen the Smash Club as a place where anyone can come to hear cool new music from new bands, no age limit...
