Well at first I wrote a review about Frozen and ranked it in third as my favorite films. But then I saw it again and something seemed really off. Then I watched the beyond the trailer review of Frozen and almost everything that was said in it, I agreed on. So here is a second review about my thoughts on Disney's Frozen.
Plot
I know I keep on saying the plot is simple. But Disney took a simple a too simple plot and threw in all this useless stuff into the mix and called it a movie. The movie seemed to take place over the chore of one and a half days when really it should have been at least 4 or 5. The film is filled of plot holes and timeline issues. Here are couple big plots holes that I found that make the film look like Swiss cheese
1: WHERE ARE KRISTOFF’S PARENTS?!!
I mean, I guess he is an orphan, but I think a lot of people got the feeling that he had at least some parents, because he was well clothed and had a tamed reindeer (Which are pretty popular pets in that part of the world). And the lamest reason to have him live with the trolls? I mean, isn’t that kidnapping? Give the kid a background story that people don’t have to dig up on line or write fan fictions about.
2: How did Elsa beat Anna up the mountain?
You say head start, I say HORSE! You say couldn’t follow her sister, I say FRESH SNOW! Also it took Anna like a day just to get half way, while Elsa got up there the same night. I guess Ice powers also come with super speed as well. Which brings us to number three…
3: Elsa’s powers.
Now we know she was born with them, but some people are saying it was a family curse/power/gift. But if it was…why didn’t anyone know how to control it?
4: Spoiler
HOW DID ANNA BEAT HANS TO THE KILL?!
Okay...Hans is like a foot away from killing Elsa. Anna is like 4 or 5 yards away. She can barely walk and is started to freeze. And just like that she gets super speed and bomb! Saves Elsa...LAME! If I was Hans I would have had it all done with in a second flat.
5: Spoiler
Why didn't Hans kill Anna or watch her die?
I mean, like what Grace said in BtT...She could have made enough noise to be heard. So why not just get her out of the way...I think every Disney Villain on earth is shaking his head right now.
6: Spoiler
How did Olaf Find Anna so quickly?
Could just be Disney wanting a lame reason for something, but COME ON! He only (In a way) remembers the ballroom.
7: The Whole North Mountain things
Okay, I'm guess this mountain is about a three or four hour hike from the kingdom (which I'll into a big). But how does it take Anna longer to get there then it does, Hans and his men and Elsa both there and back? Also 'finding' the stairs to to the ice castle? Not really a plot hole but once again...LAME!
I give plot 2 out of 5 stars
Okay, moving on to Characters
1: Anna
Anna is a beautiful character and I like her a lot, but after we had about three, strong, brave and smart characters, she seemed like a big down grade in fact she seemed like a Rapunzel copycat. But to make something clear, I know Rapunzel is like the other princesses in small ways, Anna is like Rapunzel's twin sister or daughter. She's all over the place really doesn't know when to stop or shut up and I can understand why Elsa snapped at her a number of times. Also she does come across a stupid at many things and many of the choices make the other princesses’ dumb moves look like an Ivy Ledge ACT score. Ariel may have left the sea 'for love' with a man she never really knew. Well Anna does the same thing twice kind of and because of that she makes Ariel look like the perfect girlfriend and not a starker girlfriend. She doesn’t really seem Disney she seemed like a Disney Channel Girl (A big bad down grade from many different things)
2: Elsa
Elsa is another amazing character, but the thing she doesn’t really develop until the finally seconds. I feel like Disney changed the scripted with her as the villain a good couple of times and left some parts in with her as an epic villain. She’s not really an anything-character just a character. I quickly want to go into Anna and Elsa as sister really quickly before I move on
3: Kristoff
Kristoff is a mix between some princes. Like Eugene is kind of hides the real him for the rest of the world, like Eric and Naveen he plays music and enjoys, but the main prince I find him the most alike is Aladdin. Why? Both have a great relationship with their animals, (But can I just say I like Abu and Sven more than Kristoff and Aladdin). Like Eugene he loses his princess, but goes back to save her only he isn’t the one to lose his life. But Kristoff is like two other princes in a bad way. The Prince and Prince Charming, meaning he is kind of under develop and we don’t really know his story (See Plot Hole 1). I personally would have liked him a lot better with a beard or some facial hair, because it would make him a real mountain man. He is really insane (Olaf speaks the truth) and more or less boring he doesn’t really get anywhere and is rushed until the end.
4: Spoiler
Hans
I knew about Hans as the villain and as first thought it as cool and maybe finally a good villain after a failure (Mor’dur) but really he makes Mor’dur and Radcliff look like The Joker and You Know Who (Read Harry Potter). My brothers called him out as the villain the second he came onto screen because he was to perfect and his voice was to smooth, calm and nice to be anything more than a Villain. He isn’t original in anyways, in fact I went onto his wiki page (Post link) on Disney wiki and they are going on and on how he is like so many different villains and they said he was like Frollo because he fell in love with the heroine of the film in which you guys and I puke *Throws up on floor*.
5: Olaf
Another part in which I agree with Grace about Olaf, the main reason he’s so funny and his humor isn’t forced is because the whole film is forced and he’s comes in so late to pick up the pieces of the falling apart film. There isn’t that much to go on about him, is makes butt jokes like Ray (From PatF). In fact I found him a lot like Ray. Both have dreams (Evangeline and Summer), both make dumb jokes and help keep the couple together, but one dies a hero and gets his dream, the other somehow appears after getting blown away and gets his dream. Olaf reminds me of Genie, Ray, Mushu and the sloe from Ice Age. He is just a mess of a character but still really funny.
6: Others
The Duke: Lame, useless character who I wished died when he slipped on ice.
Elsa and Anna’s Parents: Okay, personally I think Disney should have. A) Have them be dead already or B) Keep them alive and pull off another Rapunzel or Tiana or Mulan. It was nice to have parents again but really? Besides making Elsa freak out. They really were useful for anything else.
Sven: This guy is amazing, but he really does act like a dog more than Maximus does and maybe more than Max (The Little Mermaid). He really is caring to Kristoff and is adorable almost all the time.
Oaken and Family: Funny yet useless
Marshmallow: Freaking Awesome Snowman!
The Nameless Doorman and Maid: Question? Who ran the kingdom while the queen and king were dead until Elsa was of age? I believe it was them. (That’s other pole hole).
3 out of 5 because I love a lot of them
The Relationships
1: Elsa and Anna’s Sister
Now I seen all over the internet that this is the Best Disney Sister relationship ever and I have to disagree. Lilo and Nani are better, by far, in fact in one of my next article I’m working is comparing and consisting Lilo and Stitch to Frozen. They start off as the perfect sisters but then they do fall apart (which has to do with the movie), then they start getting back together just a bit during the ball scene, they have a fight which they let go a bit too far for a movie. Move on a couple of hours or a day or two or something…they meet again and Elsa tells Anna to leave her alone so she can keep everyone save. This is another dumb part of Anna, sing to your sister while all this snow storm is happening, she could kind of guess (okay knew) her sister didn’t know how to control it. The ice hits Anna’s heart and soon she starts freezing. Move on to the end where they save each other with true love and kiss, make up and go ice skating…I found their relationship rushed, boring and a joke. (Later I’ll compare the love and sister relationship).
2: Anna and Hans
HAHAHAHAHAHA NO. They made the other quick Disney couples look like Carl and Ellie from Up.
3: Anna and Kristoff
They had a much better relationship then Anna and Hans but it was rush.
This movie couldn't really handle three relationships like that. Either take out the males or try harder like they did with Lilo and Stitch because that one handled FOUR relationships (Lilo and Stitch (Friends), David and Nani (Boyfriend and girlfriend) Lilo and Nani (Disney's Best Sisters) and finally Jumba and Pleakley (Was I the only who could feel the love?)
1 out of 5 starts for sloppiness
Music
A lot of people are saying this music brought back Disney. I really disagree again. The music is like a mix between, Glee, High School Musical, Disney Channel, and an Off-Broadway show; in other words, not really Disney. (Then again we don’t count, DC and HSM as Disney now do we? ) The songs are memorable but not in the enjoyable way. They just keep on playing and play and get stuck in your head in the bad way. The songs tried to be like Beauty and the Beast (coming from me nowhere near to as good), fell quite a long way from Tangled (Because Disney knew better to make its (Tangled) music fit the film). And doesn’t really seem to be as memorable and the Princess and the Frog (I can quote those songs in English and Spanish). The songs seem too much like other Disney songs and other songs all-round. Personal a lot of the songs are a down grade even from Brave at times (Love is an Open Door?)
2 out of 5
Score
Has its bumpy parts but the ones sung in Norwegian are the best, while most of them are quite forgettable and useless scores. But still it’s beautiful (I love scores, just look at my laptop with your brain see all the scores and Disney songs…can you see it? STAY OUT OF MY BEIBER FEVER MUSIC!!!).
4 out of 5
Animation
OMG!!! I love CGI a lot and this has to my one of my favorite movies for animation (My top 15)
5 out of 5
Final Thoughts
Well, I think this movie was a failure that Disney should be ashamed of trying to be the biggest movie of a life time. If this was the best movie since the Lion King, I guess The Lion King was made just last month. This movie was like playing baseball with a ten foot beach ball and a bat the size of the ball, in other words Disney missed so many easy hits or homeruns! Or how about this, this was like a Lions’ Football Game and they gave up the ball to many times! Or it was straight to DVD quality for those you don’t understand sports. Disney dropped the ball to many times and people are playing the King New Clothes with the film imagining they don’t see
17 out of 30 in points. If you want it done it stars from me it got 2 and a half maybe it could pull a three.
