How do you think Elsa gets her power?

I'm guessing she was just born with it.

Did the King of Arendelle have ice/frozen powers like Elsa?

Who else thinks that Elsa got her ice powers from her father? Here is my reasoning:

1. The King knows exactly where to go (to the trolls), after Elsa accidentally hurt Anna.

2. The book he opens revealing the Trolls magic shows a King with what appears to be ice coming out of him.

3. The King tells the Pabbie the troll that Elsa can learn to control her powers, he then appears to be the one to primarily help with her training on that.

4. The King gave Elsa the gloves to stop her powers. Also, did you ever see him without gloves on? Nope. He always had gloves on as well, which would explain why he knew they would work on Elsa.

What do you guys think?

This really bothered me while watching this movie and I have seen it twice now and I still don't get it. Personally I think like in Tangled. Elsa and Anna's mom was sick,the kingdom found this magical snowflake and their mom had it as a soup and that's how she got the powers

OR

Anna and Elsa's mom encountered an Ice witch who has since passed and cursed Elsa with the magical powers of ice thus causing her to be isolated and being private. I do wish this movie had a good backstory to Elsa's powers but it didn't.

It did say in the movie she was born with it, but maybe someone else earlier in her family had it like her great great grandmother and she inherited the gene.

Elsa's mother drank a magic flower and one day, an old lady stole her from her baby crib. She raised her and then was isolated in a really tall tower for most of her life. Eventually, after years and years of waiting, along came a handsome Prince named Hans who climbed the tower and nearly rescued her, only to be stabbed by Olaf who was eaten by Sven who swallowed Anna to catch Olaf.
























































They all died of course.

I LOVED this movie sooooooo much but I do think that is 1 pretty big flaw that Disney never addressed. I mean they never said her parents had any powers, and anna was normal to so they should of put some mention of HOW she became like this because most of the movie was about her powers !

When the troll in the beginning ask her parents whether she was born with here powers or cursed, the parents reply "born with them".

It never says. It is a fictional movie so I just went with it!

In the movie they said she was born with it. She may be like a mutant or something.

She was born with it you know how some people are "gifted" but here's the thing if you read this frozen wiki I found on line you would see it says it's a come back Hans Christian Andersons story of the Ice Queen so...yeah.if you want the story of Hans Christian Anderson Ice Queen story go on to Rosalie753 wall and ask.

I immediately think of Disney's 2010 film "Tangled". Rapunzel has her powers because her mother took in that magic flower. The same thing probably happened to Elsa, just in a different way. The queen probably turned sick and some potions were introduced and Elsa received the ice powers. Anna doesn't because her mother never took the ice potion or something. This is most likely why Elsa has her powers.

Elsa is born with the power much like people in todays' world are born with telekinetic or psychic powers which is explained in the movie. if you search Rosered on youtube she has all the songs, instrumentals and outtakes of the movie, i will link you to a certain song :)

That is one of the things that I wanted the movie to have. It feels like they got lazy and couldn't think of an original idea like Tangled.

Of course she was born with those MAGICAL POWER. It was her gift given by GOD(according to my opinion). The movie(Frozen) do not tell us the reason behind her power so I am unable to tell the reason.

well the ice that was coming when they were on there way to the trolls was from the dad sand he also always wheres gloves and he was the only one that helped elsa through this it is the king of arendelle that gave her her powers

They say that she was born with it, however it confuses me because that is highly unlikely that she just acquired the power out of no where. They also refer to it as a "curse" in the movie as well. I'm guessing that she was born with it but after someone cursed her mother or something like that. I hate how they never tell you how she got the power but it does leave some mystery. Or you could connect two stories together, it is said that Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa and all cousins which would mean that their mothers are sisters. In Rapunzel the mother gets an illness and need the flower, etc. What if the illness was hereditary? And Elsa's mother got the same illness? And the way that they helped the mother become healthy cause the powers or someone cursed their family and the illness was just a side effect? These are just some ideas, haha.

Maybe she was playing in the snow before anna was born and she got frostbite and collapsed. Then her parents took he to the trolls then he put powers in her hands. Like he put memory loss in anna. Just saying my opinion my pov.

I think elsa got her ice powers were from her father because he was always wearing gloves like elsa had to do. He knew what to do and where to go to help Anna.

I personally think that Elsa got her powers from birth. Just like how some people are born as albinos. To simplify, it was a mutation in her DNA, making her "different".

My Answer: It came from her dad side of family. Someone on her dad side of family hade ice powers or Elsa was just cured. Elsa was born in December 21st

The king says that she was born with it.
Meaning that the king or queen could of had dormant ice powers which were passed down to Elsa.

I think that it's like Tangled too, Elsa's mom got sick and then she went to a witch with a magic snowflake necklace and she sang a song and elsas mom got healed but elsa got ice powers. :P (Im making something like a story bout that. xD)

I think Elsa's mom had powers but after she had Elsa and realized she got powers she let Elsa keep her powers and she took hers away.

I guess Elsa was born with this powers because of her aunt Ingrid. In ONCE UPON A TIME - FROZEN, it shows that Elsa's mother's sister (Ingrid) was cursed and had icy powers. Due to danger, Elsa's mother kept her hidden. And from that I think Elsa was born with magical icy powers?

You ask me, she was concieved telekinetic, and I claim that for two reasons: first of all: she ISN'T a villainess, or a psychopath (one with, as they call it in the movie: a frozen heart)- now she ISN'T perfect, or a Saint: she Does 'run away from her post' (remember that catfight at the Coronation Party with her kid sis?- she bolted from the land! That was about the only event of rebellion she engaged in in the movie that I can think of., Elsa was rebelling against all she knew as moral in some level. That was when she set off an ice-age of sorts.) So, Elsa certainly has her faults.
And she certainly doesn't really understand the capacity of love, or really what it really is (seems to think it's affection only)... but when it comes down to it; she's not a bad person at all.
However, when she hurts Anna at about the age of eight (for Elsa, and for Anna about age five), she willingly submits herself to wearing the gloves- it's as if she completely understands that this will keep her family safe from danger. This is why she agreed to seperate herself from Anna, to save her life.
Remember Elsa's response at about age twelve to her fear of 'running amuck' (losing control of herself) "Stay back, I don't want to hurt you." and "I'm scared." if anything, this shows that she Isn't an evil character.
If you watch the movie: the fellow with the frozen heart is Hans- He's the psychopath!
If it were the Evil One who gave her these abilities: Think a presence of strength from Stalin- or Albert Capone; that Never comes without a cost, and he'll take away Any (in this case, since the Devil is also known as "Satan" or "Lucifer" to properly identify that villainous (willingly) psychopathic spirit) he'd remove any morality Immediately from his 'gang members' who sign on with him to gain abilities. That never works and only leads to the Loss

To be honest, I'm not so sure Elsa has ice powers or not.

In Frozen Fever, her powers did consist of ice but her dress and the flowers just make no sense. I saw a book cover that had Elsa's usual pose but instead of a snowflake on top of her hand, it was a pink flower.

So I think maybe she has the power of SEASONS instead of just ice. It could be affected by her mood, example: She was afraid so ice (winter) powers. Now in Frozen Fever, she remade her dress and Anna's dress with her magic, making their dresses with flowers on them. She seems really happy in Frozen Fever so she may now have spring powers.

About the question, I find the story about Ingrid and her sisters in Once Upon A Time is really fitting.

Maybe a relative of her's had the power & it was passed on 2 her, like genes. Maybe that's why she does really cool magical things with her powers ^-^

When ELSA was borned,her mother exidentally gave elsa potion...the potion is her fathers experiments...instead of warm milk.
