How does Anna's sister become the snow queen but Anna stays a peasant?

Their not peasants to start off with. Both of them are princesses. The reason Elsa (Anna's sister) is becoming the queen is because something happened to the parents or who knows. Anna is now just a princess.

Anna is a princess by birth. Born from an already queen and king. Elsa becomes queen as she is the first born.
The only way Anna would become queen is if Elsa forfeits her right to become queen meaning anna would take the slack.

first of all anna is not a peasant she is a princess and second of all elsa was going to be queen with or without powers.

Elsa is the oldest sibling, making her the queen. Anna is younger than her, so she's the princess. Unless Elsa were 2 step down from being queen, would Anna then take over as queen. They weren't peasants, they were born 2 the king & queen of Arendelle, so they're royalty.
