I'm answering this with the interpretation that "commercial music" means pop songs that might later appear on an album "Music from the Fringe". I have to interpret it somehow, because of course the music in the episodes is commercial - someone wrote the music and is getting paid for writing it, as well as others who are getting paid for performing it. Right now, the show is mostly commercial instrumental score - ie, no songs that you would hear on the radio outside of a soundtrack show, nothing that could be covered, nothing with lyrics. So, for there to be a change - for there to be "more" - there would have to be songs. If you're talking about songs: Good grief, no! Instrumental scores are sufficient AND appropriate. Since the characters are not people who listen to music recreationally, the only opportunity to appropriately play songs would be if the characters went to a club or dance...and I don't see that happening any time soon.

It's possible that you meant "should there be more music?" In which case I think the answer is still "no". The scores have been quite good for each of the episodes: the music is effective at setting a mood, but not intrusive or distracting.

Finally, by "more commercial", it's possible that you meant "should the producers pay more for the music they use on the show?" As to that, I have no idea what is being paid now, or whether there are any union disputes going on related to the score. I don't believe any of the music performed on the show is in the public domain, so the producers definitely should be paying a market rate for the composition and performance...but I don't know what they're paying now.

I think that it's fine now, honestly. But I do love it when a show gets just the perfect song to play during some sort of ending montage. Obviously the perfect song won't happen very often, but I don't think it would hurt to have more commercial music. When they get it right (in my opinion at least) it makes me want to see it over and over again.

There's nothing I can say to improve over what harold said. He covered it all, and beyond! ;)
