I definitely wanted some Jayne/River lovin', despite their age differences (River was what, 16? Jayne would be 30's I'm guessing.) But they're both just so crazy, I recon they would have been great together! Can't really see Mel/River, Kaylee/River would have been alright I suppose, more likely than Mel/River I think. And I'm with you all with the last choice... Simon/River? WTF?

Sorry, I can't picture her with anyone. She's just all buckets of crazy. Maybe if she ever got her head on straight. But then she wouldn't be the River we know and love! ;D

okay i know they are brother and sister but they had a really sweet relationship in a different way, they were so cute. i also like mal and river together (i actually thought they were a couple before i started watching) but im not to sure about kaylee or jayne. jayne and her would have been funny LOL. it would be like a love/hate thing. in fact im starting to think that if the show went on it would have happened at some point.

I just want to say that a relationship isn't always romantic. That might be where the Kaylee/River and Simon/River stuff came in. I personally thought that way when I chose Jayne/River. I just think it would be funny because she is the one person on Serenity that Jayne hates more than Simon, and she's beat up Jayne more than once.

Simon and River-yeeeuck!..incest..gross-gross-gross, brother and sister!HELLO!....and Kaylee is in love Simon-so them being together-I just cant see happening...and Mal is awesome,but Im not for that-never saw their relationship as anything but another big brother looking out for his slightly off little sister..lol...and although I do think that yes, River does need more help so that her mind can be at rest but I really think that they would be god for each other-and I love her and Jayne together:)they would be so adorable...lol...and they would handle each other well...lol-yah,it would have been really funny on the show if Joss had written them in,anyway I've been shipping Janye and River for awhile and Im not going to change my mind on that-unless Joss writes another Firefly movie and River gets with someone who,and I say this with extreme doubt, could be better for her than Jayne...and
they are both child-like and crazy in basically the same area's:)

I won't make any commentaries about the subject of Simon/River because, even if I don't approve it, everyone has their own favorite ship and that's not my business.
Now, back to the subject of the pick.
I don't think anyone's completely right for her, but if I have to choose, I'd go for River/Jayne. Basically because all the Foe Yay in there makes it funny, but also because it would be a very complex relationship. It wouldn't develop fastly, it would take at least a couple of years, they'd have to learn to respect and trust each other, learn to accept and understand the other and, in the end, they'd become friends, maybe a couple some day. But I can't imagine them as a happy, sickeningly sweet couple, they would have issues, but they'd stay together because they can understand each other.

if he got past the whole "i would turn you in for money" bit they'd be a really funny couple!

yeah i wouldn't have liked her with anyone until she was right in the head again. plus even then i would've wanted it to be someone we hadn't met, like more age appropriate (Baldwin was like 40 when he did Firefly though i don't know how old his character is supposed to be) and not incestious. and Kaylee was into Simon so i don't see how she'd be interested in her anyways. then again River was watching them get it on at the end of Serenity ;) so there could've have been some sort of creepy love triangle happining in a sequel.

It would be fun.

My favorite ship is Jayne/River. Followed secondly by Mal/Inara/River threesome.

Nobody, but the "Jayne's a girls name" and "I can kill you with my brain" scenes were gorram hilarious! XD

The way I see it, Mal is her fatherly figure, Inara is her nurturing/motherly figure, Kaylee is her best friend, Jayne is her adversary, and Simon is her biological brother. I'd prefer not seeing any of these relationships become romantic.

I don't ship River with any of the characters, but if I had to choose a pairing I think it'd be Mal/River. Jayne/River feels too much like randomly pairing the non-paired characters for me.
