I hate it when sites allow username changes gets too confusing. Even one switch will throw me off.

Make it cost Gold each time you change it, but once you do change it you can't for another 6 months (or longer).

Make it an option, but also so it's not abused.

It's not a terrible idea, but it should be expensive enough where people would have to think very seriously about it.

It'd just get confusing with people switching names on whims. Or it could be abused, trolls and spammers and bullies swapping names to try to disguise themselves.
