That is bizarre...

It is I expected it to not let me unfan it, but it did so. Just weird.

Probably a glitch though. I doubt new users are making them because every new user I've seen has had one, even those who I doubt had any intention of doing so. If it was a new feature, wouldn't everyone get one, not just new users? But then again really new users can't make spots (Right? I believe so but I'm not sure), so maybe they did that so they didn't have to wait? I don't know, I find it kind of weird considering how many users are against personal spots from what I've seen.

I saw one of those earlier today. I noticed a new member had posted on a spot I'm on (they left a strange message and had no icon), so I thought I'd check out their profile to see how new and active they were, and if the message was a mistake. Instead, I found out that they were a member of only two clubs; the one they had posted on, and a completely empty club with the same name as them!

My initial guess was that, when they signed up, they got confused and made a fanclub without realising what they were doing. But now that it's happened to a number of new members... I'm not sure what's going on at all!

Yeah the user I saw (airrocks) came on the LoK spot to post one hate comment then never posted again . That's what led me to checking that profile and low and behold they joined only one spot and it was a mottoless spot for his/herself. This user wasn't even a fan of the club he/she posted in.

I thought it was just your average troll then avatar_tla_fan told me she had a similar run in. Right, good to know I'm not losing it lol.

I was curious, so I decided to test it out by making a new account, and apparently it's a new feature. The site automatically creates a club when you join.

Oh lordy lordy lordy. I do not like that. Not at all. I'm glad that didn't happen when I was signing up, it just makes the 'recently created' look ugly. :S

It's tacky. And from the looks of pending section, a complete waste of space. Only one or two people per page even bothered adding an icon.

It really is a waste of space honestly, and eye sore. I just can't even. I mean it was bad enough when the users were narcissistic enough to make it for themselves. It was bad enough when I had this user make one for me (I mean I appreciate it and still use the club to post irrelevant crap I like) but I don't really care for the assumption that I'm vain for having my own spot.
But this? Now everyone is going to have their own little fan club? Big no for me, huge no.
As you said I really don't think I have it in me to go on some huge rant over this, it's just really...bothersome.

Gosh that's way too many. It really seems like something that'll end up crashing the site. I don't know much about this stuff but this sounds like something that could create some kind of overload that slows and glitches everything.

And hell, it's useless--99% of these only have (and are only gonna have) one fan, and that's the user him/herself.

And given that one of the excuses for taking away screencaps was server space... *seethes with rage*

@misanthrope Didn't they also do that one for copyright reasons though? I know server space was one reason...I hope that this whole thing was accidental.

@DS Right lol. We've been here for a while and I think this one is one of the worst yet. I mean the site was fine the way it was...honest.

We were given multiple reasons for the screencap ban. Server space was the main one given, at least at one point.

If that's the case then I can't really say why they'd think that this is any better. Don't get me wrong I love fanpop and the f4 are awesome, but I just don't care for this.

Approximately 9,360 user clubs have been created in 18 days. Nearing double the number of clubs originally in that category. 18 days to nearly double 8 years worth of clubs...

Has anyone found an active club? I've found 2 with a couple of images uploaded... I've seen a handful with an icon and banner, but really the only clubs I've found with activity have been ones that older users have made for themselves...

That's impressive. And not in a good way. I haven't even found one active one.
