Now, I love props as much (or more) than the next person and when I go to my page and see that someone has given me a prop I am in a happy little bubble for the rest of the day. I think this is a wonderful feature so that people can be recognized for their outstanding work. However, there is a etiquette that goes along with giving props. Props are something you should give if you feel that a person has contributed something funny, substantial, unique, outstanding, or just plain awesome in your eyes. They are essentially a reward for hard work that you have done. They are like a virtual high five. They are not intended as venue for chatting with friends or saying hi to someone. It is also not fitting to prop back unless you are actually propping that person for something they did, and not just saying thanks to them for the prop they gave you. These are both things that can be done through a message. I personally love messages almost as much as props, especially if they would be out of place as a prop. One thing I love about Fanpop is that the people on here are so positive and sweet! Sometimes they are so positive that they are a little overzealous and give people props without a reason or just to say hi. I find it a little disconcerting that some people have 15 or 20 have not contributed anything. I also commonly see people who have props in categories that they have not contributed anything in. For example they have 7 props for videos and have not contributed any videos. Benji made this AWESOME forum on the Being Nice spot called "The Hug Topic" which is to recognize people for things that are not "prop worthy' but still deserve recognition (here's the link: link). By the way, I am not writing this soapbox to upset anyone; that is absolutely the last thing that I would want to do, because you are all so awesome! However, I do think that it is important to use this and other features in the way they were intended to be used.

Rant, Rant, Rant Your Boat...

Lately, the crediting debate has been raging like a teenagers hormones around our little world of Fanpop. Some of us have strong opinions. Others of us don't give a crapsicle about crediting. So, I thought I would have a big long rant about the topic, satisfying my own need to yell my opinions at people while procrastinating starting an incredibly boring university assignment.

When I Was A Young Warthog...

Yes, that is a Lion King reference. When I first joined Fanpop, I had no idea what an "image credit" meant. Thus, some of my earliest contributions are image credit-less...

*Note: This is sarcastic. Just in case anyone actually thinks I mean what I say here.*

Okay, so like, we all know that it’s SOOOO much fun to hate stuff, right? Who cares about those jealous losers who are all like, “It’s so immature, blah blah blah!”. They’re just jealous they didn’t come up with the cool idea of HatePop first! So anyways, without further ado, I present my top 4 reasons (in no particular order) of why you should totally make a hate club ASAP!

1. It gets you lots of attention!

Hello, have you SEEN how many people comment and post on answers and picks asking them...
