2009 FANPOPPY AWARDS NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!
Okay, I'm writing this is an attempt to get attention! Attention for the 2009 Fanpoppy Awards.
The annual Fanpoppy Awards nominations were opened by hooch-is-crazy almost 3 days ago but it is my belief that not all Fanpoppers are aware of this event. The initial slow response to the nominations forum as well as the fact that some users have emailed me asking what the Fanpoppys are, confirms this.
The best way for me to describe the Fanpoppy Awards is to compare it to the Academy Awards, lol. The Oscars are held to honour the best contributors to the film industry and the Fanpoppy Awards are to honour the best contributors to the Fanpop site.
I personally see this event as a fantastic way of not only recognizing the great work of Fanpoppers on the site but as an overall appreciation of all.
There is not too much time to vote (deadline is midnight, 19th February 2009)which is why I feel it is imperative that this event gets as much exposure as possible. Myself, along with several others users, have submitted links to different spots in an effort to make everyone aware of these awards. However, 3 times is the most a link can be used so I felt that I different course of action was needed in order to bring this to attention.
I have not miscategozired this by placing it in the Fanpop spot - I've written this here as I think it will be more prominent than placing it in either the Fanpoppy or Users spots.
There are many categories in the Fanpoppy Awards and with only 1 week to vote, I think it very important that all Fanpoppers are aware of this. This is not just a popularity contest where users just vote for their favourite Fanpopper or the 'awesomest' Fanpopper. This is a little bit more in depth. Everyone should take the time to see who is really the most deserving in any given category. I've already voted for some categories but there's many more where I really have some reserach to do - or be it user profile stalking, lol.
I think it's only fair and decent that we truly honour (nominate)the users according to their contributions and not nominate them simply because "geez, I think he/she is awesome."
So, come on guys, let's make these awards really special and meaningful and give our Fanpopper users the recognition they truly deserve.
Just like to add a word of thanks to hoocy-is-crazy. Hoochy has been the one who has put this whole thing together and spent, no doubt, many hours getting the 2009 nominations forum in readiness of us to vote.
If you're not yet aware of these awards or are not sure where to go to cast your votes, then this is the place:

Happy voting, Fanpoppers!
For quite a while I've been commenting on other people's picks and waiting for a reply, and refreshing the page, and refreshing the page, and refreshing the page, only to find that they haven't replied for 2 days and finally figure that they have probably gone on holiday or actually have a life.
So I have thought up an idea to keep us aware of any comments on our comments.... whatever; anyway I have thought up of a "keep me updated" button; this means that comments appear in our update box as if we owned the content.

I like to post my ideas in an article rather than a suggestions email because I like to see what my fellow fans think. If it's getting annoying I'll email you guys like everyone else does.

This doesn't apply to all of you and i respect everyones views, however i feel that some users just moan at any little change even if its good and some users saying they preferred fanpop beta. I know that there hasn't been much change but the users against change is the reason why.
Why do some users hate change? They think its against the 'spirit' of fanpop, they're scared that it will turn fanpop into myspace; Them reasons make me laugh. One, what the hell do you mean against the spirit! Fanpops not christmas. Two, how the hell could fanpop possible turn into myspace with all the awesome spots?
How can you not love the emotes? It makes it easier to see how the user are talking, it makes the comments more creative and there just fun. The speech bubble is good to, less boring then the comments before.
I'm sure this article will get a bad rating, but i just needed to say this.
