Fanpop Question

How does full/pending spot work?

I know that to become full, a spot needs fans and content. But sometimes I see pending spots a lot more actives and with more contents and even fans than full spots... so how is that truly works and who choose when a spot become a full one?

I would also LOVE to see an actual answer to this. I see a lot of "pending" spots with more content, fans and activity than some spots that are "actual" spots. It's really confusing... and sometimes frustrating. Here's hoping you get a good answer!

It's an esoteric distinction: functionally, the clubs are the same, whether they are "pending clubs" or not. In earlier iterations of the site, there actually was more of a difference, but not now. The only difference between the two, now, is that pending clubs are shown in an extra list that full clubs aren't. In that respect, it could even be said that being a pending club is more desirable, as it's that much more likely that users will find it in random browsing.

but pending spots aren't showed in "related spots", that makes promote the spot more difficult

How is the "pending" list an extra list? The pending spots aren't shown in the regular spot directory or in related spots. They're ONLY shown in the pending directory.

Related clubs seems to be determined by what users click-through to from a given club. If pending spots aren't appearing, it's because not enough users are clicking through to those clubs.

As you said, it depends mainly on content and fans, but it also depends on channel, for instance, I created the link before the Versus and Mashup channel was created, however, once it was it was decided that there were enough versus and mashup spots to create a new channel, thus, despite only having about 20 fans and not too much content it became a full spot. I imagine that it is also easier for a spot to become full in the Fanpop Users or Versus and Mashup channel than television because they are smaller.

Actually it's very hard to a spot to become full in Fanpop Users channel... I know that TFW, Leyton Lovers, House MD fans and others have much more content than Myra (Kathiria) and Debs spot, but they are still pending spots...

hmm... then I'm stuck, all I can say for sure then is if they are creating a new channel it can be a full spot quicker.
