Has Erza lost effectiveness as a fighter?

At the beginning of the Fairy Tail series Erza was famed for her aptitude towards requiping armors in the blink of an eye. It is this that gave her the epithet 'Titania'. However is it me or have we seen less and less of her requiping awesomeness. Now every fight she ends it in that annoying 'armor-that-isnt-really-armor-but-it-is-really-a-cloth-around-my-bossom-and-some-hakama-trousers'. I am starting to miss most of her cooler armors. Some say when she dons these clothes she releases her heavy armor which increases reflexes and speed. All offensive right. But she has so many better armors with the same abilities. Her flight armor can reach hypersonic speed+, so for speed it is an obvious option right? The robe of Yu'en is clothe and she has great agility because the armor is flexible, thus making it a good choice for agility. The Black Wing armor throws all energy into her swings so offensively it is a much better choice for offence. She has thunder empress which uses lightning, flame empress for fire, giants armor so she can throw things great distances, armadura fairy is her quote un-quote 'strongest armor', morning star armor shoots mini nukes for gods sake, the PURGATORY ARMOR. Let me quote Erza: 'noone has endured my wrath in this armor and lived to tell the tale' why dont we see its power then? Sea empress armor, to control water. Heavens wheel can summon a lot of swords. If Erza has 'over 100 outfits' assuming that about 60-70 are normal clothes, we should be seeing at least 30 armors in play. I liked back in the day when Erza could adapt to any situation and look cool when doing it, now it is simply the same thing again and again.

@reefa2931, i just saw on the wiki, they said she gained the epithet TITANIA from her changing armours and all, buts its not true. Its why i try to avoid wikia as much as possible, they are updated by people and people can make mistakes. I think the epithet Titania,was given to her for her battle proweress, and strength. If u look at it the word titania is probably gotten from the the word TITAN, who were the predecessors of the greek gods known for their size and brute strength. but when actual though about it based on hat @pjwoww said, erzza has only on her last 3 battles with the japanese armour, Last battle - Kagura, japanese armour but she did use 3, possibly 4 other armours, previous fight, Pandemonium - Won with the japanese armour, (she might have used more we don't know, probably find out next episode), Previous fight Azuma - won using the japanese armour, but used a couple of others can't remember at the moment, previous fight Juvia to Lisanna - Won using the sea empress armour, previous fight Knightwalker,- Draw used the most amount of armour till date, -Previous fight, Midnight i think, on using robes of yu'en but used various other armours, and so on. But while i agree that winning with the same armour straight times is becoming a trend, but its still not cos for alarm, since she still uses other armours, i think i'm more interested in seeing ne armours tbh

Actually i do believe the epithet Titania was given to her because of her requiping prowess. Titania was the name of the queen of the Fairies in myth, so it symbolises her beauty in her armors. This epithet is also the reason why Evergreen hates her because she wanted to be called 'queen of the fairies'.

Don't really know much about Irish/fae mythology, so maybe titania really was the queen of the fae.

I had free time, so i looked it up, The Fairy queen in fae mythology has no name, the name titania is used by shakespare in one of his plays for the fairy queen and he got it of the name given to the daughters of the titans and titaness, i'd say someone like pandora and selene for example, but i think selene was a titan, so maybe NIKE., but she is considered a goddess, so maybe just Pandora

Against Ikaruga, it was evident that her armours weren't gonna hod up against ikaruga's hypersonic slashes, the flight armour does increase speed, but i think its still armour and should still be heavy, she used it against kagura and makarov never mentioned anything about being unable to see it, kagura though couldn't keep up, but had the reactions to block it, but the cloth armour, blitzed them both. And i think in the pandemonium, she would have needed maximum speed against those monsters while still being able to attack considerably, while it might not be as strong as some of her stronger attacking armour its still very strong in attacks. Only against azuma, she could have bombed him with armadura or morning star. The Pugatory armour, i'm dying to see what that armour does, its a disappointment that Ikaruga slashed to pieces, but i'll still like her to requip it to redeem its image. I will also like to see a new armour. lol who wants to bet that we see a Metal empress armour lol. Oh and the robes of yuen, allows agility and all, while she might have the speed she has with the normal robes becauses they also weigh nothing, she won't have the attack power, IIRC that robes weapon was a spear right?. But i think a main reason she uses that armour is psychological, she has a certain phobia, its why her casual dressing is the heartz kruetz armour, she always has the feeling of she hides behind the armour, but when she requips those cloths that absolutely lacks defencee, she completely abandons that fear. Its was as much a reason she could win against Ikaruga as her increase in physical stats (barring defence)

Maybe she wasn't fighting with Kagura that well cause she was distracted by Kagura's feelings towards Jellal. Her strength is drawn from her will to protect her friends while Kagura's is drawn from her hatred towards Jellal, so I think Erza is more powerful than Kagura, but at different aspects. Like Erza knows how to keep calm in a dangerous situation while Kagura almost lost it when she heard that Simon was killed by Erza.
Hence, I think that Erza has definitely not lost her effectiveness as a fighter as can be regarded as one of the most powerful mages of FT. :)
By the way, I don't hate Kagura ok ? She's really cute and powerful. :)

Of course not !!! :) I am started to think that me and pjwowww are the only ones who are actually supporting Erza after her fight with Kagura. :) But I'm pretty sure all of us love our favorite female knight.:) Maybe she wasn't fighting with Kagura that well cause she was distracted by Kagura's feelings towards Jellal. Her strength is drawn from her will to protect her friends while Kagura's is drawn from her hatred towards Jellal, so I think Erza is more powerful than Kagura, but at different aspects. 1) It is not the fact that i dont support the Erzas victory, it is the fact that she won in a horrible and trolling way. 2) I think that Erza has lost effectiveness because she isnt displaying her talents as a mage who is comparable to a Saint Wizard. In that cloth armor all we can tell in terms of skills is that she is a good swordsman. What about her ability to requip. She wasnt known famously for her swordsmanship, but her skill at requiping and if she isnt showing that now what is she? The fact that she has a multitude of armors was probably the only advantage she had over Kagura. In my opinion, Kagura was the better swordsman but only by a bit. I also think it was wrong to have Kagura effortlessly take down some her armors. It is like Hiro is constantly giving the same excuse for her using the cloth armor: 'Oh, her other armors are completely useless against this opponent except this one'. In terms of keeping calm i have to say Kagura. Remember Erza lost it as well when facing Jellal in the tower of heaven arc. Kagura has displayed a cool demeanor in nearly every fight except when Erza revealed that she was 50% responsible for Simons death. Now think, you have led your entire life thinking that a guy was the reason for your brothers death and you have sworn revenge against that one guy. The hatred is so bad that you get physically sick when you see him, but then someone who you respected as a fighter and as an equal comes out and says that she is also responsible, wouldnt you be the slightest bit p*ssed off?

@starprincess, first of all, their strength is drawn from their magic power, their emotions determine how well they use it, lik if i'm really angry, lets say dragon roar will take 40 MP, i then use 90MP, so it seems more powerful. Anyways i think what @reefa2931 is on about is her usual diversity and adaptability that she became famous for isn't being used. And erza being calmer then kagura because kagura lost doesn't sound right. Erza isn't gonna see a dude that comes and murders FT, a few years after and be cool with him, well except Jellal lol. And you lot aren't the only ones supporting the way the fight went, i won't say i'm supporting either of them in the fight but the fight did go in a logical way. @reefa2931, we simply haven't seen enough of kagura with her sword to assume she's a better swordsman or woman than erza, but i agree with you, i also think she is the better sword user, since her magic centers on the use of swords, and erza's includes spears, axes, katanas, maces, broadswords, javelins and every other weapon. I think the point of the ex-quiping his it enhances her stats, and she didn't have any armour that could equalize speed with power like the japanese armour. The admantine was strong enough to protect her from kagura but got blitzed, the flight was fast enough to nearly blitz kagura but didn't have enough attack power, if she'd used the morning star or others, kagura might have simply dodged it, but the armadura fairy is an option since the AoE of that one is crazy, kagura won't be able to escape, and so will the town, she'd basically level it. Once this arc is over, i expect it would be business as usual with her ex-quipping other armours.

Maybe Hiro in fight with Minerva will show us new armors?
