This is what I don't get:Why the hell would Edward let Bella kiss another dude?Like man, that's your chick!I know Bells love Jacob and stuff (who doesn't?) but she should be faithful to ONE guy!

Edward wanted more than anything for Bella to live a full and happy "human" life and with Jacob she would have done that so he was always looking for ways to push her to that even though he loved her....he also knew how Bella felt about Jacob and he would do anything that would make her happy or not cause her any pain. He knew that Jacob was black mailing Bella into kissing him...and he knew Bella would find out about it...so instead of getting all mad when she did...he just waited until the truth came out. Very classy move if you ask me.

I think the reason is that Edward recognizes that by leaving Bella in New Moon, not only was it a HUGE mistake but it really hurt her and he just doesn't want to hurt her anymore. He knows that if she truly wants to be with Jacob instead of with him than hanging onto her will just cause her more pain.
In short- he's basically leaving everything up to her. It's her choice and he decides to respect it regardless of what it is.
Personally, I don't like the fact that it's almost like she's stringing them both along when she KNOWS who she wants to be with more and that she simply CANNOT live without Edward. She should've just told Jacob that all they could be was friends. (THIS IS MY OPINION- PLEASE DON'T HATE!!!)

ummm i don't think bella kissed jacob. i know jacob kissed bella but idk if there is another part of the movie where she kisses her. :-((

That's the thing she fell in love with Jake during New Moon, though she can't admit it or get over her past and obsession with Edward!! That is why I never thought Bells should've went with Eddie in the end!! I agree he was her first love but common...Bella kissed Jacob TWICE!!! Regardless if ppl say she didn't want the first time to happen, that's obviously a lie!! Part of her wanted to kiss him even though she got angry, she was more angry at herself than Jake afterwards. I think Edward should've died valiently, allowing Bells to get on with her life while she finally admitted wanting to be with Jake!! That's just what I think cuz seriously the baby-thing is retarded!!:/

I don't really think that he let her but i totally get where you are coming from. Bella way stepped over the line. people say that she loved them both and she was torn then don't accept a proposal and promise to be with someone then run off and kiss someone else its tacky and gives all girls a bad name. Please don't think that i dislike the characters or the books cause i love them but like you i really don't get the cheating excuses.

Because Edward loves her. He honestly thought that by leaving her in New Moon, he was giving her a chance to live a normal human life. Now, altho he's besieged with jealousy towards Jacob, he also knows that Bella needs to know her true feelings. She didn't know until she kissed Jacob (freely & completely) just how deeply she loved him. And that confused the hell out of her! In the book she cried for hours & hours, in Edwards arms. It must suck (pardon the pun) royally when the woman you love is crying incessantly over another guy. And he was willing to let her go, to be with Jacob. BECAUSE HE LOVES HER. He just wants her happiness, even if it causes him pain & eternal loneliness. Nobody wants to be second best. Edward says he understood when he left her, there were consequences. Her flourishing relationship with Jacob in the time he was gone, is the consequence. He accepts that. Its his fault, he was trying to deal with it. It takes an admirable man to allow another man to kiss his woman, but it had to happen. Because once Bella was over the crying jag, she realised unequivocably that it was Edward she loved beyond all reason & that she wanted to spend eternity with. And she had to tell Jacob her decision, painful as it was for them both. Jacob tried to sway her with emotional garbage, and Edward fought for by telling her he'd willingly let her go if it made her happy. A sacrifice he was willing to make. A clever move indeed ....
