I was engaged. He got down on one knee and opened up the little box and a big ring sat in the middle. He had a career and a perfect life ahead of him.

Then why did it feel so...wrong? 

It felt wrong putting the ring on my finger and forcing a smile as he stood up and kissed me. I felt like I shouldn't be kissing him, and I should be with someone else. I should be kissing someone else. And that someone else was someone I knew I knew but hated, I could feel that in my gut.

I'm engaged, I should be the happiest girl in the world right now!

When I was with him I didn't feel the sparks, I felt something, but it surely wasn't fireworks or any type of sparks. 

People say that when you have 'the one' you will feel it in your gut that it's him and that he's...well, 'the one'. 

When I was with him...I never felt it. I never felt that confirmation or feeling that told me he was 'the one'. 

Damn, and he just entered my mind again.

Maybe this is for the best, that I ignored the no-feeling and I'm moving on from it.

But my mom once told me that if it doesn't feel right, leave as soon as you feel the no-feel. 

I didn't leave because if I did leave, I'd get a big, fat 'I-Told-You-So!' from Duncan.

He'd rub it in my face that I lost my new 'the one' and he's gonna go right back to him saying he's 'the one'.

I swear to God, he cannot be 'the one'.

My mom said when I was young that when my soulmate would enter my life I'd know, I'd see him and I'd just know that it's him.

That never happened with me; well, it happened once, but I was young. Too young to meet 'the one'. 

My mom told me it'd be hard, she said it'd be the hardest thing in the world trying to find 'the one'. That's why when I felt the fairytale feeling I ignored it and told myself it was my teenage hormones. 

I mean, Duncan and I are total opposites. Me and my fiancee' are perfect for each other. Too perfect.

We don't fit together, Duncan and I, we argue too much, we fight over everything, he doesn't have a career ahead for him, he's a screw-up, and don't even get me started on his hair! 

Snow white said when I was young,
"One day my prince will come."
So I wait for that date.
They say its hard to meet your match,

So we make perfect shapes.

But on the other hand, Duncan is sweet, charming, he makes me smile and laugh, he makes me truly content with who I am and who I will be. 

When I was with him I felt everything out of a Disney storybook, I felt all the signs and he screwed it up. 

He told me he hadn't meant it and I told him to jerk off, except when I said it, it was in an extremely rude manner, and he told me he'd be there for me when I realized that there is no one else for me but himself. 

If stars don't align,

If Duncan is 'the one' then I'd know. Right here and now and I sit in my room I will get a sign knowing that Duncan is the one for me and that he is my soulmate.

At that moment, I reached to turn on my alarm clock and my ring fell off of my finger.

My fiancee' walked in and I sighed and sat up in bed, and I told him honestly, "You're not 'the one'."

He actually smiled when I told him this and he nodded, "I was wondering how long it'd take you to figure it out."

"You could've just left me."

"I had too much fun, Courtney."

I sighed and gave him the ring, which he sadly took and walked out of the room.

I got up and into some regular clothes, I walked to the park and texted Duncan, "Central park. 5 mins."

I saw down on the bench, minute after minute passing, and I heard his voice, "Shouldn't you be with the wrong fiancee'?"

"No. I should be with the right one," I stood up and walked to him.

"Are you admitting that I was right?"

I admitted defeat, "Yes, Duncan, you were right. You are 'the one'."

"I'm glad you finally see it my way," He pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a big ring.

Just like the movies.
That's how it will be.
Cinematic and dramatic with the perfect ending.

This is just like the movies, I knew it as I stepped into his arms and kissed him, as he put the ring on my left ring finger.
