Duncan's P.O.V.

The lawyer froze, nose wrinkling. Slowly she turned towards me, twitching.

"Do not talk to me delinquint. I do not have time for you." She spun around and shoved the door open.

Either she still hates me or she doesn't remember me. I was betting on the hate version. I grinned. I'd finally found Courtney.

But then another surprise struck.

"Hey guys, I'm here to bail you out!" Dayna announced, thrusting open the door.

Every head in the room turned to stare at her.

"Oh...um, is this a bad time?" She asked, glancing at everyone nervously.
I shot her a glance to play dumb. She nodded. Then her gaze flicked back to the police.
"So are you taking my brother and his friends to jail or what?"

After about five minutes the Chief decided that we were free but had to do community service for about six months. Not as bad as I expected.

"You're happy all of a sudden." Dayna commented as we left the police station.
I just smirked.
"Hmm...let me guess...you heard Courtney's new album's coming out?"
"You make me sound like a Belieber. NO!! I saw Courtney!"
"Ha, like she'll ever take you back."
I grinned the whole way home....

I smiled for a while because I'm sure that I know better

I hummed 'You won't break My Heart' all the way home, without losing an ounce of happiness even when her first song, the one she'd wanted to sing in TDWT, was playing on a radio I passed.

I sung along to the lyrics as I picked up trash with a stick.
Marcus raised his head and glanced around, trying to decide who was singing to Courtney Karter. His eyes locked on me and my iPod and he used his stick to stab another cigarette.

Another advantage to Courtney's music was that I could always figure out how her love life was going. Sometimes it was great but that relationship would always fail eventually. I still had a chance.

When I find him you'll be the first to know...

If I'm lucky, that'll be me.
