Dogs Question

How do I ask my mom and dad for a new dog????

I really want another dog it i don't know how to ask. We have one other dog. My parents think I don't take care of him. But for the last week ice been walking him everyday feeding him ( instead of my sister doing it ) brushing him and giving him treats. Any ideas how I should ask or tell then.

Past history: I wanted a guinea pig at the beginning of the year and then I wanted a turtle and now I want a dog. I did some research and i found out that getting a dog would be the cheapest. My dad will be the hardest to convince.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea what research you did, but I can already guarantee you that guinea pigs are not more expensive than a dog. They're food alone is cheaper than dog food.

Also, did you ever stop and think the reason your parents are saying no is because you haven't been taking care of your dog very long, and you constantly keep changing your mind? That's great that you took care of your dog for a whole week, but what happens when you get tired of doing that? What happens when, next month, you want something else?

You want to convince your parents? Show them you actually want this. Take care of your dog, every day, for a month, two months, six months, a year. Then tell them you want another dog.

ok. My parents have never said no but they do know that I love animals. The dog we have now is more of my little sisters dog but we still have to take care of him.I do understand your point, and I know I need to take better care of him. It may be that way that I might want another pet, But it can add on the the list of pets that I want. But I really want to rescue a dog. Thanks for the advies.

If your parents aren't saying no then why do you need to convince them to say yes?

Because they are more likly to say no, and if they say no ill leave them alone

Hello,
first, I think you should ask them why they don't want a another dog. Then, you will find arguments against their opinion and explain to them why do you want one dog. But are you sure you can take care of a dog with your studies? It's a good idea you had (take care of your dog during one week) but can you do it everyday with two dogs? I have three dogs and i love them. We fortunately have a big garden. My medical studies take up all my time soI can't see them in the year.
The best solution is to ask to your parents a dog for your birthday.
When you will be in your own flat or house, you will be able to have every pets you want so don't be too sad if they still disagree.. Good luck!!

Number 1: thanks so much for the advice. Number 2: I'm only in 8th grade and I'm homeschooled, and I have 4 siblings to help take care of the dog. I do dance but I don't think that it will make a huge difference. Number 3: I will definitely try talking to them. Thanks :)
