I know it's a Disney movie, and it needs it's happy ending. But Disney movie aside, Ariel did not deserve her happy ending. There was no real indication that she learned her lesson, and after all of the stupid mistakes she made, got everything that she wanted without dealing with the consequences. The movie would have been a whole lot better if 'Ariel herself' chose to stay a mermaid, realizing that she's not ready to leave her family, and that she still has a lot of growing up to do.
