The next morning Minnie was sitting at her table, drinking cup of coffee when the doorbell rang. When she answered it, Daisy was standing in the doorway holding a newspaper pointing to the headline, “Oh my gosh Minnie! You’ve gotta read this morning’s paper! We made the front page!”

“Oh my goodness! Really?!” Minnie exclaimed, “Come on in, and have some coffee with me and we can read it together.”

“Oh and by the way, congrats on getting to be the new pageant director.” Daisy said after they were seated. “I am so jealous.”

Meanwhile across town Scrooge was enjoying a relaxing swim in the money bin, after all the stresses of the previous day. Suddenly, Webby came running in waving the newspaper. “Uncle Scrooge! Look I’m on the front page of the paper!” she called.

“Wonderful dear, let’s see it.” He said, as he climbed out and sat down on the edge of the money bin.

Webby sat down next to him and held up the newspaper. “See there I am.” She said pointing to the photo of her, “Read me the whole story, please.”

After she handed him the paper Scrooge began to red aloud, “Big News about Lil’ Miss Duckburg. Yesterday at the Lil’ Miss Duckburg Pageant, the disgraceful actions of former director Laura Quackson were brought to light. It was revealed to the Duckburg citizens she was involved in illegal activities to assure her daughter, Victoria Quackson’s, winnings. These actions included; bribing the judges and even destroying other contestants’ dresses, and many others that are being investigated. She was also offering a fraudulent $500,000 cash price in the hopes of luring in other contestants for her to beat. After her scandal was revealed, former director Laura Quackson resigned. Those who revealed these actions are none other than: Scrooge McDuck, the richest duck in the world and uncle of contestant Webbigail Vanderquack, along with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck and several of their friends. After the resignation, Miss Minnie Mouse volunteered to take over as director. Also for the first time in the history of the pageant, there was a new winner of Lil’ Miss Duckburg, and that little girl is Miss Honeybunch Muddlefoot. And the second place winner is none other than Miss Webbigail Vanderquack.”

Several months later Minnie was sitting in her living room planning for the up coming pageant, when Daisy stopped by. “Hello pageant director.” she called, “How’s it going? It’s just another two months before the Lil’ Miss Duckburg pageant. Oh and by the way I’m still jealous!”

Minnie sighed, “Well, you don’t have any reason to be jealous. I don’t think the pageant is going to go very well this year.”

“Well, why not?” Daisy asked

“Because we don’t have a good budget.” Minnie explained, “When everyone found out about Ms. Quackson’s scandal all of sponsors and many of the contestants quit, because they didn’t want to be associated with the pageant anymore. And I see now that it was a big mistake on my part to lower the sign-up fee in the hopes of bringing in more contestants.”

“Sorry, I wish I could help you out.” Daisy replied. “But, remember I’m still trying to pay down my three credit cards.”

“Well, it’s alright.” Minnie said, ‘Right now you can you can help me by checking the mail. I believe I just saw the postman drive off.”

“Okeey-dokeey.” Daisy said as she ran out the door to the mailbox. She soon returned carrying several letters and magazines. “Oh look this one is addressed to the Lil’ Miss Duckburg Pageant director!” she said holding up an envelope.

“Hmm…go ahead and open it, maybe it’s least a small donation.” Minnie sighed.

Daisy tore open the envelope and stared in amazement at large amount of money, “Oh my gosh!” She exclaimed after counting it, “Minnie, this definitely isn’t a small donation! It’s five hundred thousand dollars, to be exact!”

“Oh well, I’m afraid that’s just the prize money that Ms. Quackson was ordered pay the Muddlefoots. They likely just sent it here by mistake.” Minnie said, “Although I am little surprised it only took her ten months to collect it all.”

“Nope, says right here that it’s a donation!” Daisy said eagerly pointing the letter.

“Oh my, who on Earth sent it?” Minnie asked.

Daisy studied the letter for a few minutes then said, “It doesn’t say that. It says it’s from an anonymous donor.”

“Oh that’s too bad,” Minnie replied, “I would have liked to have thanked whoever was kind enough to donate that generous amount. But, I am happy that we’ll have enough money to put on a nice pageant.”

A few days later Minnie and Daisy were at the mall shopping. Minnie was walking through the store window-shopping, and waiting for Daisy to finish trying on her clothes, when she heard a familiar, “Hi Miss Minnie!”

She glanced up from jewelry she was examining, and saw Webby running toward her. “Oh hello, Webby.” Minnie said she bent down to hug her, “What are you doing here today? And where’s Uncle Scrooge, you’re not here all by yourself are you?”

“We’re going to the toy store!” Webby answered, “And Uncle Scrooge is back there.” She said pointing behind her.

Minnie looked up and saw Scrooge coming their way, “Hello Minnie. Nice to see you here today.” He called.

“Why hello, Uncle Scrooge, good to see you too.” She replied.

“Well, we have not talked for while, how are things going with the pageant this year?” he asked.

“Well I was worried about the budget for a while.” Minnie answered, “But it looks like we’ll have enough money, thanks some anonymous donor.”

“Oh good.” Scrooge replied, “Because, last time I spoke with you, you were very worried about the pageant’s budget.”

“Umm… speaking of the pageant, I’ve been wondering, is Webby going to be in it again this year?” she asked.

“No.” He answered, “I believe that my wee Webbigail is retired from pageants. She has no interest in them, now that she understands that she doesn’t need to be a pageant queen to be my beautiful wee lass.” He pause for moment and then added, “Besides, she would not qualify at this point. Now that I’ve decided to become a sponsor.”

Before Minnie could reply Webby called, “Come on, Uncle Scrooge! You promised you’d take me to the toy store today!”

“Well I’ve got to run. I did after all promise my wee Webbigail that I’d take her to the toy store.” Scrooge said, then he took Webby by the hand and exclaimed, “Alright darling let’s go!” And they ran out the door.

Soon after Scrooge and Webby had left, Daisy came out of the dressing room, and found Minnie deep in thought. “Well… I thought you promised you’d help me try on clothes.” She said.

But all she got for an answer was, “Hmm… Daisy, I think I’ve just figured out who that anonymous donor was.”
