Why does Belle think she is better than everyone else in her village? She shrugs at them, because to her, they don't "share" her interests, and, she says, quite explicitly to her dad, Maurice, "There's nobody here I can really talk to."
To which, Maurice brings up Gaston...
hahaha
Um, Belle, there are plenty of people here to talk to! You just want "to constantly pick the subject matter" ( i.e., fantasy books) all of the time! You could have had a discussion about planting crops, designing dresses, baking bread, or selling wares...but you don't "want" to listen to other people talk about themselves. You want to pick the topic AND be the center of attention. That's why you "are a beauty, but a funny girl."
A little pretentious? Sure. But spoiled? Not really imo. She lives a simple life and happily helps out her father with his work and doing chores in the town.
Not at all. But i get why people would falsely assumed she is. The opening song put her on pedestal and some might jugde her too early just by looking at the surface.
