Best remake

BY FAR! The original was good but the remake, while it has some problems, is a far superior movie. The villain is given more complexity and sympathy, Charming is given a three-dimension personality and an actual name, the relationship/chemistry between Cinderella and Kit is more defined and fleshed out (They're just freaking adorable), they actually get to have conversations with each other at the ball instead of just dancing, we got to see more of Cinderella's relationship with her parents, the relationship between the King and his son is expanded upon, it has freaking Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother (Who has great wisdom and comedy), and the stupid filler with those stupid mice and annoying cat is GONE! The remake keeps its focus on the important elements instead of ignoring that for a bunch of annoying and unnecessary filler with the cat and mice. Even as a kid, I questioned if the movie was about Cinderella or the mice because of how much the mice and Lucifer hijack the movie and steal the spotlight when it's not needed.

One of my all-time favorite movies.
I was very surprised by how much I love this movie since I don't like the original.

By far! It's visually more beautiful! The prince is more complex character, better philisophy and romance.
They shouldn't "kill" the king though.

I enjoyed the new one a lot but I still find it cringy that they apparently could think of no reason for her to stay other than "oh well, I grew up here and it's my family home" when in this one she actually has friends who could help her and seems to be living in a weirdly progressive society where she isn't devoid of any rights unlike the old one. I didn't see the point of that. At all.

And I liked Ella but she came off as a lot less realistic than Cinderella. And I'm not complaining, but it's an annoying that Cinderella gets called a Mary Sue or unrealistic despite her anger or frustration at her situation being obvious but Ella at her worst just makes pouty faces in lieu of real anger and that's somehow a more realistic version.
