All five modern DPs are marketing tools. I had half mind to pick Elsa because she's an audience avatar and I know people are gonna say Rapunzel but I say Anna. She screams Look at me, little girls love me !

Let's see: for little kids. She is gorgeous, has a sparkly dress, sings let it go, has magic powers, and builds Olaf.
For more mature audiences: she is a great role model for those that suffer from depression and anxiety. She doesn't need a man, and is thought by some to be lesbian. Personally, none of those are the reasons I adore her. But seriously, she is genius from a marketing standpoint.

Pretty much all of them.
After the positive response to Rapunzel's bubbliness, it seems Anna was made to be as appealing, awkward and bubbly, but amplified.
I don't think she's a Rapunzel clone, but I can tell that they used some of the same traits that people responded to in a positive way.

I can't decide between her or Elsa. I agree all of them are though, totally, which is my biggest beef with the Moderns I guess. we can't just have good characters, they have to make kids want to buy their toys and please their parents by proving they're sooo different from the past princesses.

Elsa might sell the most but I think I'll stick to my original choice because EVERYTHING in Tangled is meant to make you want to buy merchandise, whereas with Frozen, it only does that with the sisters.

Rapunzel is Disney's Barbie, Elsa was given a vague personality so everyone could relate to her, and Anna was made for the little girls in mind.

Definitely little girls SQUEAL ELLLSAAAAA!!! at the top of their lungs. They don't squeal for Rapunzel or Anna, which tells me all I need to know.

^ Exactly. By far. I don't hate Elsa, or even dislike her, but it takes all I have not to start breaking down her personality and her actions and stuff whenever I hear another little kid say Elsa is their fav. Anna deserves that attention, not Elsa.
