Disney Princess Now that Mirror Mirror, Maleficent, and Cinderella have come out (Cinderella being an exception), do you think we'll get a live action Little Mermaid?

I think the Little Mermaid would be harder to pull off.

The director's rights have been rumored to have been given to the director Sophia Coppola, of "Lost In Translation" fame. And it would appear that Sophia will be sticking to the original Hans Christian Andersen story, where the mermaid character risks it all for her chance at an immortal soul, dies, and then becomes a ghost because her efforts are deemed unseemly. Hans Christian Andersen loved to punish his characters.

Mirror Mirror isn't Disney, though, right? So Disney could do their own live action adaption of Snow White too and make it so much better. I didn't like Mirror Mirror at all...
It would be nice to see the Little Mermaid remade into a live adaption. And other fairy tales too. I would definitely like to see Aladdin I think, and maybe Mulan, and perhaps Frozen or Tangled too. All of them!!! It would be interesting, I just hope they don't ruin the classics like they did with Maleficent.
Cinderella should be interesting; I'm looking forward to that one, especially with Australian actress Cate Blanchett playing the role of Lady Tremaine.

PFT, no. People only like screwing with the old Disney movies. they wouldn't dare mess with a more modern one like TLM, BATB, Mulan, or Tangled.

AudreyFreak: they're already making a live remake of Beauty and the Beast called "Beast," supposedly from the Beast's perspective (oh god, not this again!).

I think that its one of those movies where they would understand it and wouldn't be able to translate it well into an actual live-action movie. There would be too much CGI and the story would be lost as well as the characters. They would be stuck between the happy ending of the Disney film and the original fairy-tale and they would try to make a balance there to make it "edgy." Also, they would completely miss the point about Ariel's character. They would try to make her more grown up and mature, which I think would ruin the spirit of the movie.
Essentially, I think they will make it because no one has an original story to tell anymore and for a cash grab, but I hope they will know better than to mess with it.

No. The special effects would look like crap and i'm tired of these new fairytale movies that try to "humanize" the villainesses. If they do something like that with Ursula...

I don't even care if they do. :P I don't like TLM so they're not ruining anything for me. But they might, I'm not sure.

@MissCassecou Disney was going to make a Chinese Snow White calling it "Order of the seven" and release it in 2012 but since both Snow White and the huntsman, and Mirror Mirror came out in 2012 Disney thought it wouldn't do so good and canceled the project. (THANK GOD can you imagine 3 snow white movies in the same year)

I hate live action remakes. Maleficent is an exception because it wasn't just copy paste of the cartoon.

OK, thanks for the information iHyrule! I liked Maleficent too however I thought it ruined the classic because it dismissed the magic (even though many people claim Phillip and Aurora's first kiss to be creepy, it's still a sweet and crucial element of the story), de-antagonised one of the best Disney villainesses of all time, (making the "mistress of all evil" "misunderstood" and completely changed Aurora, Stefan and the fairies.
So I liked it by itself, but not how it ruined the classic for me anyway.
