He did not know if she was alive or dead HIS reaction was more heartwarming I mean after his daughter saves China we get a brief scene with him where his sitting under the Blossom tree one even lands on his leg and when he picks it up the way his face sinks in pain is heartbreaking I mean we all know that his daughter is fine but what about Fa Zhou he does not know that plus when he first sees her after so long the agony of not knowing the way he whispers her name and how he stands up to see her before sitting back down again when she kneels infront of him when she gives him the sword and crest all he could look at was his daughter he wants to hug her so badly wanting this to be true because he did not know if it was just a figment of his mind when Mulan stopped talking he just tossed them aside and pulled her in a fierce hug just overwhelmed with the relief that his daughter was alive and well he would be able to have peace his daughter was back the one he feared he would never see again plus his reaction her taking his place was more heartbreaking he couldn't even go after her because it would mean her death i could not imagine what he went and now when ever i see the part where Mulan was discovered it breaks my heart even more because he came so close to losing her

Maurice on the other hand was able to try to rescue Belle there was really nothing stopping him i never thought it was fair that Maurice was reunited with Belle so much earlier then Fa Zhou was with his daughter AND he suffered so much more than Maurice did plus his reaction too seeing his daughter again did not make me feel that happy for him Fa Zhou yes i felt SO happy for him at the end of the movie Maurice i wished he was reunited with Belle at the end of the movie after the scene where the Beast transforms back into a human not before the climax.

It's just a much better scene in general. Also Belle and Maurice's reunion is dampened by Gaston and the guy from the insane asylum showing up.

The relationship is just way better portrayed.

He was sick and went to look for her alone, through the woods, nobody believed him, he didn't know what would happen to his daughter. The beast could've done anything to Belle. Fa Zhou had a reason not to go after Mulan though. I think both were equally happy. Fa Zhou was also proud.

I cry every time she finally makes it home and just yes.

Their entire relationship evokes such an emotional response from me.

manu962 But In Fa Zhou's case there was a very slim chance he would get his daughter back though plus having a daughter in the army is diffrent than a prisoner SHE was at risk every single day of dying and look at how well Belle was treated when she came by the servants and later the Beast Mulan on the hand onlt had her animal friends for a while she was struggling a lot the other soldiers bullied her up intill she won their respect what I am saying is that she did not have an easy time plus i would rather be locked in the Beast's with the castle than in the army where my chances of survival are so much better and FA ZHOU showed more emotion he was saddend right before thinking she would never come home before being shocked at her appearence thinking it was just his mind playing tricks on him before the overwhelming relief when he hugged his daughter with Maurice we only get relief and we don't have that moment with just him thinking he will never see Belle again je was able to do more though fa Zhou and the heartbreaking realiztion that he could not help his daughter since it would only get her killed he suffered a lot he had to keep his silence he had nightmares about her death and knowing how close he came to never having that moment makes me feel so happy for him
