Aladdin had so many chances to tell Jasmine the truth. Even when Jasmine tricked him into admitting he was the boy from the market and asked him to tell her the truth, he lied again. I do like Aladdin and I know everyone lies but man, I really hate how people can be dishonest sometimes. He was about to tell her but there was no guarantee he wouldn't have chickened out again. I would have liked to see the scene where he clears up everything.
Aladdin was going to tell her that day anyway, sure it would be best if he could explain himself better. Really if a villain says it, it makes Jasmine more prone to forgive Aladdin (weird right), that is based on human phycology actually. I did wish Aladdin was the one to tell Jasmine, but eh doesn't bother me that much.
No, not really. Aladdin was in the wrong and shouldn't have lied, of course, but he proved he really loved Jasmine by risking his life by going back to the palace and defeating Jafar, so she forgave him.
Btw, the Genie also sorta calls Aladdin out on his lies ("Tell her the TRUTH").
Heh, that is true BelleRose that it makes Jasmine more prone to forgive him, she never really stays mad at Aladdin for long to begin with though. I would just have loved a scene where he tells Jasmine the truth and apologizes.
I like the reprise lolol. I wish Jas had been more angry at him. I think Aladdin proved the consequences of lying, anyone can get caught at the wrong time.
Jasmine calls him out on it on the roof top. "You are the boy from the market! I knew it! Why did you lie to me?! ... Did you think I was stupid? That I wouldn't figure it out? ... Who are you? Tell me the truth!"
Genie calls him out on it multiple times. Before Aladdin approaches Jasmine on her balcony, Genie encourages him to tell the truth. When Aladdin breaks his promise of setting Genie free, the latter says very bitterly, "Okay, fine. After all you've lied to everyone else. Hey! I was beginning to feel left out. Now if you'll excuse me, "Master"..."
Jafar calling Aladdin out on his lies doesn't bother me because he's not the only one.
It's good because it makes Aladdin very human to have that weakness. He can't just be 100% strong and right about everything. And it is his deepest insecurity, admitting he is not that prince means showing himself vulnerable as the poor guttersnipe with nothing to offer to the one he loves. Obviously in Jasmine's mind she loves him more for being that, but for Aladdin, all he wants is to be that glorious prince that can give her everything.
