PrincessLD picked Pocahontas:
Pocahontas decide to stay with the people that need her, even that she may lost the love of her life. If I was Pocahontas, I would decide to go with John Smith. That was the biggest sarcrifice to me.

IsaacKuo picked Rapunzel:
Rapunzel tries to sacrifice her future and freedom, with no chance of escape. Belle makes a similar promise, but the difference is that Rapunzel means it. Belle doesn't keep her word, but Rapunzel does.

Mulan and Ariel take risks, but they never take suicidal risks.

KataraLover picked Ariel:
She gave up her home, family, friends, her voice, her species, and the life she use to have all for her dream and true love. None of them changed their natural born species like her. It's one of the reasons she's my favorite disney princess.

prussiaducky picked Mulan:
Im getting kinda mad! Ariel did all of those stuff selfishly! She did with no wisdom and just did it for her self! Thats NOT called sacrafice because she did it for herself. Mulan left for her father because he was old and had limb leg! She did not do it for herself! She did it for her father and could have died because she was a female joining the war against the huns. Are guys serious? Im really suprised because Ariel did everything for herself not keeping anyone in mind BUT herself. Im not saying i dont like Ariel because she is my 3rd favorite princess but COME ON! She didnt do anything! No sacrafice was made on her part, she stupidly just laft because of her love of a man she barely knew

IsaacKuo picked Rapunzel:
You can sacrifice things for selfish reasons.

However, many of the things which Ariel "sacrifice" don't really count. Changing her species and losing her old life don't count, because she'd rather be a human living a human life--that's not a sacrifice, that's an upgrade. Giving up her home and family don't really count since moving out is a natural part of growing up. It's not a sacrifice to lose something you'd naturally lose anyway. Ariel doesn't really give up her friends. Certainly not Scuttle, and presumably not Flounder.

Really, that just leaves one main thing Ariel sacrifices--her voice. She also risks her soul, that's a risk that Ariel doesn't take seriously into consideration.

*Talks in sarcastic tone* Yes prussiaducky because it's so horrible to go after your dreams. It's not like it's the same as someone moving away for their dream job which tons of people do. It's not bravery at all, it's just stupidity. Also yeah it's ridiculous that she instantly fell in love. What does she think this is, a disney movie or a fairy-tale?

carrieicecream picked Tiana:
Tiana sacrificed her whole humanity, and not to mention her dream to open her resturaunt, in order to be with Naveen. I think all the princesses sacrificed at least something, they're all very brave.

@ prussiaducky Thank you!! I completely agree with you! All she did was for her own happiness, she didn't think of anyone but herself! I don't get how people think she did any sort of sacrifice!

IsaacKuo picked Rapunzel:
@carrieicecream: It's kind of hard to keep up with The Princess and the Frog, but I don't think that's exactly how it went down. Tiana didn't sacrifice her humanity, since Naveen could still find another princess to kiss.

What Tiana sacrificed was her dream to buy the old sugar mill. That's the thing that was on a strict time limit, since the realtors had another buyer who they preferred and they said she'd have to offer more money to change their mind. (In the end, it looks like they were swayed by a scary alligator rather than more money.)

Now, it's not clear exactly whether or not Tiana was really giving up her dream. It's complicated. Tiana told Naveen she could reach her dream with a lot of money, but that's only because she thought he was a rich prince and that was a way to sway the realtors. On the other hand, Tiana probably knew that the realtors were prejudiced against her and they only gave money as a convenient excuse.

What I find interesting is the ambiguous relationship between Charlotte and Tiana. Clearly, Tiana either doesn't feel she can ask Charlotte directly for money, or doesn't want to. I think their relationship is complicated by their financial interaction.

I've been pondering writing a Charlotte-centric story about that. I speculate that Charlotte insisted on buying all those dresses mainly because that's how she got to spend time with her friend Tiana. I think Tiana's mother didn't mind taking advantage of that, to help support her family. If you think about it, that's got to complicate their friendship. Charlotte must wonder whether or not Tiana was ever truly her friend...
