She thinks nothing of defying death just to explore a shipwreck, and her first instinct when Ursula obtains Triton's trident is to fight rather than to run. Basically, she's a boy inside. The other Disney Princesses show bravery when the circumstances demand it, but Ariel does so just for fun. Only Pocahontas comes close to Ariel in this respect. posted over a year ago.

	maryksand picked Rapunzel: My choices would be Mulan, Ariel and Rapunzel and I think three girls are pretty equal in their bravery - BUT I had to consider the psychological condition Rapunzel was in when she did her "brave" things: she left the tower despite an emotional pressure that she lived under for 18 years of her life since birth, with her self worth being destroyed almost entirely by a woman who brainwashed her to the point that she was even afraid to take a step outside without her premission and stayed in the tower for her whole life. It wasn't just the exciting world waiting for her out there- it was a SCARY place waiting for her out there as she believed after listening to Gothel for all those years. And yet she was still willing to explore it and try to live a life. And after she finally battled her fears and embraced the world and saw that it had nothing to do with Gothel's lies, she nearly willingly lost it all because she was determined to save her beloved. posted over a year ago.

Notice how Ariel insults her best friend Flounder for being a "guppy". Boys dare each other to do brave things even if they're stupid things. Boys make fun of each other if they chicken out.
