My sister accused me of not loving the Disney Princesses. She got mad as hell when I told her that I don't like Snow White as much- she threw a FIT. I tried to reassure her saying that I don't hate her, I just like the other princesses more than her. My sister says she's a bigger Disney fan but she's not on Fanpop and she gets annoyed when I play Disney movies in the living room. So I gave her a list of things I like about the DPs so she would shut the hell up:

When Disney decided to give traditional animation another shot, it was somewhat logical that they would try to start this “new era” with a Disney Princess movie. After all, each glorious era started with one. “Snow White”, “Cinderella” and “The Little Mermaid” were small masterpieces. But the “Princess and the Frog” proved to be problematic from the very beginning.

As I mentioned before, the early Disney movies were very much about showing off what animation was capable of. They were all very visual and groundbreaking. But with the exception of "Snow White" and "Dumbo" (which originally wasn’t planned as a movie at all), none of them were financial successes. That can partly be blamed on the influence of WWII, partly on the fact that the production costs for each of them was very high ("Dumbo" had the lowest budget by a considerable amount).
